This is a touristy place that doesn't feel gimmeky. Loved the brewery decor and older aesthetic of this late 1800s establishment. We received good service and got apps to share

- Potato pancakes
- Cheese curds
- Bratwurst
- Pierogies

Everyone was delicious with various flavor profiles but the sauces for the curds and pierogies were the stars. Great drink and beer options as well going with a stout and lager!

We had a reservation here for a late lunch before heading over to Soldier Field for a bears game. We visited over the festive period and the decor inside the restaurant created a lovely atmosphere. We walked in and were seated immediately but even at 2:45 in the afternoon the restaurant was full.

I ordered their own root beer and my other half ordered a beer, both drinks were very good. We ordered the Goulash and the Wiener Schnitzel for our main courses. The food arrived in good time and the portions were huge when they arrived. This is not a fine dining restaurant but the food was delicious. My goulash was probably the best I have ever had and was just what I wanted on a chilly December afternoon.

We shared dessert and had the strudel. The portion size was perfect after such a large meal and was very tasty. The apples were nicely spiced and not too sweet, highly recommend if you can find room for dessert.

The total bill came to just over $100 for 2 people and we thought this was good value given the size and taste of the food. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Chicago and am sure we will be back in the future!

The Root beer was fire! The beer names were fun and they bring out the big Steins like in Germany. Old school place. The food was authentic German. I loved the German potato salad and sauerkraut. My German friend told me to put the sour cream and the apple sauce atop the potato pancake. Oh and I love the Alsatian onion apple soup. It was so simple. Felt like comfort food.The prices were reasonable. Prost! 🍻

This is a beautiful place with great decor and a Christmas theme right now and it’s historical as they opened since since 1898. The Alsatian onion soup Was very good. The spatzleknodell was kind of disappointing because the description was a lot better than the actual food itself see picture. It was more like three deep-fried balls of flour and I could not taste the chicken at all and I like the salad, but there wasn’t really much food there. it was more like an appetizer for $19. The Adams Street brewery is kind of inside the Berghoff restaurant.  This is a family, friendly restaurant, and there are papers and crayons for the kids. The servers are really kind and friendly.

My husband and I are always on the hunt for amazing, authentic German cuisine. This place did not disappoint. We got the German Apple Onion Aleascian Soup and it was mind blowing! The sauerbraten and jeager schnitzel was so delicious. Makes me wish we lived closer so we could have this meal on the regular. The Dunkel beer was tops as well! Can not wait to get back here!
