Nice little cafe for breakfast. The walk towards the cafe is very nice. They serve very good croissants. I tried their pistachio croissants and espresso. They have very limited seats which is a bummer.

Hugely disappointing! Expectations were reasonable but the pastries were not! Great corner spot though and no queue, thankfully. Not queue worthy!

I ordered blueberry French toast. It wasn’t fully cooked - doughy on the inside. Kind of a mess. The lemon bun or ? Was very dry. Not good. The last of the three was a version of ‘American monkey bread’ on a smaller scale, of course. If you’re American you’ll know. If not, envision fried dough doused in sugar. Crunchy, sweet and moist. Can’t go wrong with that.  I should have known this was the standout based on the response of the beautiful lunch lady behind the counter. Whenever you hear ‘good choice’ on only one item you should know the other two are not up snuff. Now I know. Beautiful and friendly bakery ladies behind the counter though!

Here, I once waited an hour just to try their pistachio cruffin :) Typically, you’ll need to queue, so be prepared for that. Their croissants are well-made, but my top recommendation is definitely the pistachio cruffin—it’s a must-try! I also had the best matcha latte I’ve ever tasted here. There’s only seating for around 10 people inside, so you’ll likely get it to-go and enjoy it outside. Sometimes, certain items may be sold out or still in the oven, so you might need to wait. But as I said, the pistachio cruffin is worth the wait 💚

The best bakery I’ve ever been to, would give 10/5 if I could. The bakery and the deli side are both fantastic. Such variety, concepts I haven’t seen yet, quality is high. Everything tastes amazing and fresh, so many flavours. Great matchas too which is hard to find.

What a reason to be alive. I visited Amsterdam for a week and there was only one morning where I wasn’t here. The selection of pastries is just overwhelming, being vegan has never been so easy when there’s so much to have!!! The pistachio products are as good as their reputation if not better, although I also adored the peach/lavender croissant tart and the hazelnut pain au choc.

There’s two sides, one for the sweet and one for the savoury - both worth as much of a visit as the other. I had an amazing BBQ seitan & pineapple ciabatta - the flavour combo was insane! I also adored the truffle mushroom focaccia, sooooo scrummy. The seasonal soup was a wonderful pumpkin peanut blend which you can get served with 1/2 a sandwich too, and I paired it with the T.L.C. The sandwich fillings have definitely inspired me to recreate them!

They have a very large retail stock available to purchase too, some beautiful spreads, glassware, merchandise, and more. I bought the hazelnut butter and the pistachio spread to take home as souvenirs! I can’t wait to put them on my toast!!

The staff work very hard in a very busy and demanding atmosphere, there are fresh pastries coming out every moment you look at the counter and the queue is always very long, and rightly so! Bente was my favourite, she was extremely kind and clearly very dedicated to ensuring wonderful service. She makes fantastic coffee, I can’t praise her enough.

I cannot wait to come back to Amsterdam, I would truly come back just for this place. Much love - Long live Saint-Jean!
