Although it has recently closed and been taken over by a new bakery called Chestnut, the legacy of Dominique Ansel's innovative approach to baking continues to inspire visitors. I am writing a review for a bakery  called "Chestnut" that has the exact address of this bakery called "Dominique Ansel Treehouse". I did further research on "Dominique Ansel Treehouse" and found out it was permanently closed. The bakery called "Chestnut" took over.

Chestnut bakery is a hidden gem in Covent garden area. I enjoyed the selection and the taste of their bakery. 
I ordered a pistachios flan, a cinnamon swirl and an almond croissant. I love all of them. The almond croissant had almond paste inside which made it more yummy. The sweetest of the cinnamon swirl was just right. This was the best cinnamon swirl I had. I seldom see pistachio flan offered at bakery. The taste of pistachio was rich. 
The bakery is light pinkish inside with beautiful floral arrangement at the front entrance which I felt welcoming.

Please support this hidden gem if you are visiting Covent garden area in London. This bakery really worth a try.  Hope this bakery will remain open next time when I visit London.

Fascinating decor, attentive and friendly service, and the only place in London you can get the DKA - Dominique Ansel's take on the classic Breton "kouign amann."  Check it out.

i am a huge fan of all things DA, this location did not disappoint! the decor was beautiful (treehouse themed as the name suggests) with a bright and airy interior. the chocolate chip cookie as expected was excellent. knocking a star off for the staff which seemed to have a bit of an attitude, not sure if they were overwhelmed with the soft opening or not focused on helping the customer, but hopefully they sort that out when they are open full time

I am a huge fan of Dominique Ansel! I love his cookbook "Secret Recipes" and I love visiting Dominique Ansel London which opened in 2016. I was very interested in visiting the new bistro after seeing the media hype. As expected from The Best Pastry Chef 2017 from "The World's Fifty Best," his pastries are absolutely amazing. There is a huge case of gorgeous pastries as soon as you walk in the door. I had the Black & Blue Pavlova for dessert which was spectacular. I would have loved to try the tiramisu or sticky toffee pudding but these desserts are huge and should be shared by several people. I love the concept of the bistro in sharing your meal with someone special but it is disappointing if only one person wants dessert. I had the tomato soup en croute which was delicious. The handmade farfalle was okay...not earth shattering. I was disappointed in the dinner menu and choices. Most people seem to order the roasted chicken. The dinner portions are small. I assume this is intentional so you have room for dessert. The restaurant was not busy on a Sunday night two weeks after opening.  The service felt forced and a little insincere. I would go back for a dessert and coffee but most likely not dinner. Dinner was good and the prices are fair, but I was expecting a spectacular meal to match the desserts. In light of the current virus situation, the shared-plate concept and eating other people's food, probably isn't the safest and healthiest idea. Sharing food with others makes it awkward when eating alone (the portions are either too large or too small as in this case.) Or eating off the plates of coworkers or people you hardly know can be strange, Make reservations online.
