Cool but deserted two centuries old Chinese marketplace. Except for two small shops and a very cool shrine dedicated to Mazu with century old murals.

This market will soon be torn down or at least be made into luxury apartments. Probably fell victim to a certain recent crisis.

It was once a prime example of successful historic building conversion with many shops and cafes. Now it’s completely deserted. Everything is closed. There is a poster saying an application was made to build a Ritz-Carlton hotel around it.

Very strange but lovely place. We were alone during our visit. Silence and just some Chinese music playing on the back ground. Probably it was empty and the cafes were closed cuz it was 2nd of Jan. But still nice experience.

Sadly this historical place will be replaced with a hotel. Most of the stores are closed. Worth visiting while still standing.
