Cette passerelle condamnée qui relie la Gare Saint Lazare à l’actuel Hôtel Hilton, anciennement appelé le Terminus,était utilisée par les bourgeois et autres voyageurs prestigieux et internationaux quand prendre le train et le bateau était encore un luxe. Ces voyageurs avait l’avantage, à la descente de leur train, de pouvoir se rendre directement à leur hôtel, qui s’appelait le Terminus à l’époque et appartenait à la SNCF, sans avoir à croiser la foule dans la rue. Le restaurant du Café Terminus est célèbre pour avoir été le lieu d'un attentat anarchiste à la bombe commis le 12 février 1894 par Émile Henry.
