My Epiphany in Room 108

Wow, 36 rooms will be remembered forever in my memory as an introduction to Berlin. For sure felt like I was getting the FULL BERLIN EXPERIENCE.

Arrived for new years and the place was a like the beating heart of the city. A multitude of events were transpiring, so much went down during our stay.

The building was beautiful, real old Berlin boarding house vibes. Loved the reception decor!! The staff were nonchalant but easily overwhelmed. But hey, it’s Berlin.

The room, no complaints. The bed was lovely - on the nights we had occupation of them. Bathrooms, when not broken, were steamy and well-fitted.

Love the use of technology, found the implementation of keycards as opposed to regular keys very intriguing, my only gripe was that I wish they worked/opened doors.

If you’re looking for an inspiring, raw, good old time, I cannot recommend 36 rooms enough. Sure it comes with its challenges but they’ve made me a better, more capable person.

It really is a hostel.

Great location and friendly helpful staff. Unfortunately the hostel bathrooms were  quite dirty (used stained towels and beard clippings on the floors that were somehow not cleaned for three days we were there) and the hallways smelled like cigarettes. Had to pay extra for bedsheets and towels.

In 8 years experience traveling everywhere in europe I never have a experience like I have in this hostel,they leave to sleep in rooms people with mental problem,the reception talking with out respect,the owner come one day inside in the room and think he can do whatever he want because is the owner,making like gangster and talking like I was his employees I have to tell to reception who drink in the room if I don’t tell he gone put us all outside,I don’t know how they think can treat the clients like this but was me Bads experience in this 8 years traveling.
Be careful people don’t go there.

If there is a minimum oportunity to overcharge you, they will take it! I should have read these reviews before. Better pay 15 euros more and get into a place which really respect you as a customer. Bad experience

Our stay at 36 Rooms Hostel was TERRIBLE. From the beginning, the experience was a disaster. We notified that we would be arriving after 11 pm, and they assured us there would be no problem, but there was no one to greet us. Two hours later, they tried to give us our room, which we had already PAID for, but it was occupied because they had rented it again when they saw that we "didn't arrive". We were assigned a room with bunk beds, cheaper (40 euros less) than the one we had paid for.

The next morning, they finally gave us the double room, but it was all dirty and used.
Also:
- The access key did not work neither to open the bathrooms nor to enter the reception.
- There were street people living in the bathrooms. The second night I could not take a bath because I was afraid to go in due to a person sleeping inside.

I travel a lot and usually stay in hostels, but I would not recommend this place even to my worst enemy. It is a disaster in every way. For 30 euros more you get something much, much better, because this is a pigsty.

Please don't go. Read the reviews and avoid this lousy experience. This accommodation should be closed and not be available on any platform.
