A must see castle - purchase tickets DAYS in advance as this is a very popular experience. I recommend taking the horse drawn carriage UP the hill and walk down the hill.
The restaurants at the base in the village are a great stop for eating and souvenir shops abound.
There is a trail behind the castle that leads to a suspension bridge that provides a fabulously picturesque view of the castle. Along the way are artists that draw nice photos and can even do custom paintings.
Plan on a 6-8 hour visit for everything and the time flies by.

We visited on a Sunday in November earlier in the day with pre-ordered tickets online. We arrived and found parking easily, and carriage was already available without a line. The tickets for the carriage ride up is €8 and €4 down though we walked down because of the wait for a carriage. The tour was well organized and there was good signage to find your way around. There are lockers available for large bags and backpacks which are not allowed in the castle. There are also no photographs allowed. It was a good visit and we were lucky with also great weather.

I visited here in the summer many years ago (on a bus tour from Munich) and it was really nice to see. It was easy to walk her from town  (though I remember there being open busses that brought people up as well). There were so many nice things to see inside.

A beautiful well-preserved castle. Take a bus or walk hard to the the castle at the hill. The view is magnificent from the top. Recommend not to wait for a bus when coming down. Easy 20 min walk. Plan ahead, only 200 tickets available per day.
