My stay at this hotel was incredibly disappointing. The beds were uncomfortably hard, and the air conditioning barely worked. The bathroom became unbearably hot due to the lack of proper ventilation, making it impossible to stay in there for long. After expressing my concerns to the staff, they provided me with a fan, which offered a small bit of relief. However, things took a turn for the worse.
The next morning, I headed to the complimentary breakfast and was initially pleased by the variety of options. Unfortunately, what seemed like a decent meal resulted in severe food poisoning, landing me in the hospital for multiple days. This unfortunate incident forced us to cut our trip short.
For your own well-being, I strongly advise against booking this hotel.
The Italian healthcare system is very good though so if you indeed do decide to book this hotel, you’ll be taken very well care of.

We were in Italy for my daughter's wedding and spent a couple of nights in Florence.  We booked 2 rooms and were given rooms in the "original" part of the hotel, on the main floor.  Immediately upon checking in and entering our rooms, there was a musty odor/moldy smell that was overwhelming in the air. There was also a dark colour on various parts of the ceiling and around baseboards, which was more than likely attributing to the moldy/damp smell . As someone with an allergy to molds, within minutes I became severely congested. The air conditioning in the room did not work. I spoke to the staff at the front desk to request a different room and they informed me they were fully booked and to come back the next day.  I asked them to come to the room to understand what we were dealing with and they did.  They admitted there was smell in the room and that the air conditioning did not work because it was an older part of the hotel.  They suggested using a fan and/or opening a window.  We opened a window and spent half the evening killing mosquitoes.  We checked out of the room and waited in the lobby the next morning until other rooms became available.  We were moved to a newer part of the hotel which was much better than the first rooms.  With the exception of one member of the reception staff, we found the other staff members very unfriendly and not wanting to help more than they had to. The hotel is also very close to a central meeting area for university students.  The partying and noise carried on until the early morning so if staying at this hotel, be aware of this as well.  One plus - the breakfast was amazing.

Nice staff. But in the evening they turned off the heating so the rooms vere cold. First I thought my room have heating problem. But we were group of 18 persons. The turned off the heating in the evening in all rooms. Its december 14 so its normaly to be cold these days.

We stayed at Relais Hotel for five nights in October 2024 and were assigned room 31. Unfortunately, the room we were given was not one promoted in pictures on the hotel's website.
Located on the ground floor, room 31 had a stone ceiling, with plastered stone outside stone walls and a large floor-to-ceiling plate-glass window looking onto a side road at street level. For privacy, the bottom part of the window was covered internal to the room by a 2m high wooden screen. To see outside, we had to stand on a chair only to see a wall and parked motorcycles. To prevent people on the street looking in as they walked by, the window also had a one-way mirror film.
Inside the room, two sequential blackout and soundproofing curtains covered the window. Additionally, a fan-assisted air recirculating/heating unit was mounted on the wooden screen. This had to be kept on continuously to create an air flow. Unfortunately, there was no external ventilation or opening window.
Upon first entering the room, we were immediately overwhelmed by a strong stench of air freshener. However, even this ‘scent’ couldn't mask the underlying smell in the room. We also noticed signs of discoloured overpainting on the ceiling and corners. To make matters worse, we were disturbed nightly by flying insects that must have entered the room through the open door during cleaning. At night these insets frequently landed on our faces and arms.

We were so happy to have found Hotel Centrale after an airbnb fell through due to the heat. The staff were wonderful and the room was gorgeous! They had a cot set up for our infant within minutes and helped with anything that we needed. The only challenge we had was the AC was not strong enough for the high ceilings on a 90+degree day. The staff was able to provide us with a fan that helped immensely. The bar in the evening is lovely and quiet. We'd stay here again when we're in Florence next!
