Congratulations; you made it to the Columbia Road Flower Market.  But now it's time to eat and every nearby place is packed.  Time things right though and a table here is yours for the taking.  

With Serrano Jambon legs dangling in the street-facing windows, Laxeiro Tapas Bar was the most inviting looking place in the area but a 45-minute wait and a laissez faire seating policy discouraged me from hanging around when hunger first hit.  A short time later though, I returned to an abundance of seats and no wait (though it didn't stay that way).  Timing is everything.

The Spanish menu here is enticing as is the casual, warm feeling of the place.  The food, all of it, was good but I can't honestly say that anything stood out as great.  Solid and satisfying but not "oh my God"-inducing.

A meal such as this, which featured Paella, Boquerones, Albondigas, Shrimp, a cheese plate and more (yes, I overordered - no regrets), pretty much demands an alcohol accompaniment.  The wine offerings here are will cause one to linger and I did.  Others seemed to be doing the same.  

Laxeiro Tapas Bar is a great place to finish off a an afternoon over warm food and good wine with someone whose company you enjoy.

Came for lunch after a morning at the Columbia Road Flower Market and squeezed into a 4 seater between the noon and 12:30 slot when breakfast is closing and lunch is not yet open. We skipped the queue to be seated but then it took awhile to order. I would dock a star for how frazzled the service was but the food well made up for it.

I thought I was transported back to Spain - the boquerones were a highlight and even the simple Jamon was divine. Perfect saturation of olive oil and dash of tomato. We also had the paella - the rice was perfection - just the right balance of crisp and moist. Then we had the pulpo which was a bit too smoky for my taste but well seasoned. 

My only regret is not ordering any drinks as we had our two toddlers and needed to keep our wits about us. Must return!

My husband and I were at the Columbia Street Flower Market and stumbled upon this quaint restaurant. He wanted to eat here because he saw it was Spanish seafood... The only catch is we were there during breakfast hours.

The ambiance:
Extremely busy. Guests were eating inside and outside. There were couples of all ages, families, and even an adorable black labradoodle! It was very loud and full of energy the moment we walked in. 

The food:
My husband ordered the Spanish breakfast which consisted of a piece of chorizo, toast, grilled tomato, and some sort of onion tortilla. It was truly mouthwatering good! He shared all of it with me and I honestly wished I had ordered it too. The chorizo is house made and was divine. I ordered fried eggs on toast and they were piping hot and the yolks were just runny enough. He had a latte and I enjoyed fresh squeezed orange juice. I'm a sucker for it every time and this did not disappoint.

The service:
Everyone working spoke fluent Spanish and English. It felt like a family business. The staff was attentive, helpful, and eager to please.

They take both cash and cards, but note if you spend less than £15 there is an additional £1fee. 

My husband reaaaaaally wanted to go back for dinner but they told us you need to make reservations at least a week in advance. They also mentioned it is a full dining experience during dinner, so set aside at least 2 - 3 hours. Hopefully we can make it back next time we're in London!

One of the best tapas restaurants in London. Very friendly welcome and olives are provided to your table with your drinks. Ordered a selection of dishes off the menu, would really recommend the octopus with paprika, Serrano ham croquets, Iberico ribs (could easily demolish a whole potion to myself), Padron peppers and potato omelette. Average price for any tapas restaurant, I can't wait to go back, I highly recommend!

Went there on a Friday night with my friend. We did not have reservation and it was almost fully booked. Luckily we've got a seat.

The service was great. The Sangria was really nice. I do like most of the tapas that we ordered but I'm not sure about the steak. 

However I do really like this place I'll definitely come again.

Lovely little Spanish/tapas restaurant on Columbia Road. It's small, warmly decorated and a great place for a convivial dinner with family, friends, and loved ones. When you can fill your table with tiny plates of food and pitchers of sangria, how can you not enjoy your dining experience?

We had a delicious paella for 2 - way more than enough for two people - but that's probably because we started with garlic mushrooms, a spinach and cheese crepe, a white bean salad with cheese and tomatoes, fresh seasonal asparagus, and an iberian pork shoulder. Don't worry, there were 5 of us, and everything was delicious. 

Best of all, the people were so friendly - we were starving and really loved the look of the place, but every table was reserved. They ended up shifting around some tables and putting some outside and squeezing us in. So kind of them!

The crema catalana was delicious and rich, and the fresh coffee ice cream had shades of hazelnut. They were out of the homemade rice pudding, so I will have to return. 

You can entice me anywhere with promises of pudding.

Had a really nice dinner here, with friendly service and a small cozy dining room. The owners helped us choose our dishes, telling us what was fresh and available, and helped us pick a wine.
We had the octopus, lamb, ox cheeks, pimientos de padrón and garlic shrimp. They brought everything out pretty much at once, which wasn't super convenient but that's how they were fired in the kitchen. The best were the octopus and lamb, which had a nice sauce. The bread and olive oil at the beginning wee really nice. The portions were pretty fair and you could tell the quality was good. 
Bonus points for having one house cat, and two cats loitering on the tables outside.

AMAZING FOOD for great prices. Dessert was sooo good too. 
Recommendations: Sangria, BBQ Sardines, Sauteed Baby Squid with Chorizo , , Pisto: roasted vegetables with fried egg. Homemade cheesecake, topped with homemade apricot jam and the dessert croquettes (Croquetas Dulces de Chocolate )
Cons: skip the Presa Iberico - BBQ Iberico Shoulder of Pork...It was tender but I've had better.

Unlike other reviewers, I took a star I was going to give this restaurant away because of their rude and unprofessional staff.  Seriously if our sour-puss waitress rolled her eyes at us one more time (um, for being 2 people and not 4 and for gee, ordering food) it would have been difficult to keep my cool.  

Even the woman whom I would take as the matron of the establishment was far from polite when "asking" (more like demanding) us to move to the other 2 seats on the table so they could seat 2 other guests.  Yes I get it, you want to make sure you can fit in as many bodies as possible during your busy Sunday and us moving over makes sense in your mind... however it's quite possible and should be expected to request this of your patrons without being downright nasty about it  especially when your patrons are not giving you attitude too (a simple, would you please mind sitting at the other two seats would have been soooo fine).  

I think I'll try to go again on a not so busy day (can't imagine them being so packed except for Sundays) since the food was actually quite good.  It's a shame, I'd like to rate it better because I did quite enjoy my tapas (peppercorn sauce steak is phenomenal) but unfortunately food alone does not a dining out experience make.  Hopefully the next time will be a happier occasion!

Dishes seemed surprisingly expensive... Probably £7-8 per tapas plate? Plus £2 for bread! Portions were very generous though, so that made it more worthwhile. Spinach crepe was good, but had a goat-like cheese. Potato tortilla was pretty typical. White chorizo was delicious.

All in all, not too bad for going into the first restaurant with seating available on a Columbia Road Flower Market Sunday.
