Nestled in the heart of Londonderry at 90 Central Street, the Central Street Café offers a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that captures the essence of community-driven dining. This charming café is renowned for its commitment to social good, as all proceeds support local programs through St. Luke's, making every visit not just a culinary delight but a contribution to the community. The café's inviting space is bathed in natural light, with a sun-drenched roof terrace that feels like a secret oasis amid the bustling city.

Excellent little cafe for coffee and breakfast. The people who work here have a true sense of community which shows in the excellent food preparation.

It's a non-profit! All proceeds go to St. Luke's and their programs that support the community, elder citizens and support groups. So, you can feel good about spending your money here, people! 

Beyond that -- it's a gorgeous space. Light filled, sun drenched, huge roof terrace that feels like a lovely little secret, and plenty of seating and tables. Free wifi, to boot! It gets pretty crowded weekday lunch given all the workers in the area, but the weekends are very chill. 

The service is a bit like you might expect from a non-profit. Not entirely on point. A bit flustered usually. But overall totally fine, of course. The queuing system is bonkers and I always seem to get cut in line by about 12 people, but I try to remember that its for charity and that usually does the trick. If the Italian woman with glasses is working, it'll all be fine, she's amazing. Otherwise? Kind of a crapshoot. 

The food options are good -- the salads are freshly made, soups are nice, and they often have quiches and other goodies made up and ready to go. The breakfast is pretty standard, but also filling and does the trick. Coffee bar is great, and they have a nice selection of baked goods, pastries and treats. 

It's on the pricey side for the portions -- but again, it's for a non-profit so I think its justifiable. It's a lovely spot to work or chat, and besides the midday rush its generally very mellow. 

Great addition to the area, for sure!

Yelpers, this place is great! It's spacious with lots of beautiful natural light. You have your pick of preferred seating: counter seats with plugs, small tables, larger tables for holding impromptu lunchtime meetings, an upstairs terrace... the choice is yours.

I spent an afternoon working here and thoroughly enjoyed my iced americano, salads, and wifi.

The food, coffee and relaxed, un-buzzy vibe could stand on its own, but this place is also a non-profit, where funds go to support the local Saint Luke's community center. From their website: 

All profits from Central Street Café go towards covering costs for over 10,500 delicious, healthy and high-quality meals that feed hundreds of elderly Islingtonians in need each year... In addition, we aim to serve food that is ethically-sourced, organic and fair-trade, and all our staff are paid London Living Wage.

Doing my part for the greater good? Sold.

So disappointed as I read the reviews for this cafe and was really excited to visit this morning but pretty disappointed. 

On entering and waiting at the counter I wasn't actually acknowledged for around 5 minutes which made me feel a bit uncomfortable and not really know if I was supposed to order at the counter or what I should do. Staff seemed quite stressed which is totally understandable but I did find it weird to be ignored for that amount of time when the place wasn't that busy. The service wasn't that welcoming or friendly which also gave a weird vibe. 

Anyway I waited and ordered salmon on avocado toast with extra poached eggs. Came to around £12 I think and I ordered a bottle of water too. Service was quick which was good. Eggs were runny (but sadly lukewarm), toast was fine and the avocado was tasty and really nicely topped with seeds and herbs. The plate looked awesome! The salmon was mostly fine but you know when smoked salmon is left out and gets a bit hard around the edges and transparent sort of? Well, some of the salmon was like that, which put me off my food a bit so only ate half. It wasn't a bad meal but it wasn't great either.

I remembered I hadn't had my bottle of water served to my table with the food so asked inside to be told I could take it out the fridge. This is totally fine! But I think being told that before eating would have been helpful. 

I left with my water and got a coffee cake to go which was really tasty and the price was okay. 

So not a terrible experience but I don't think I'd return for a meal. Maybe just cake next time!

Really nice place for a brunch...and quite compared to Old st places,
The place belongs to St Luke's and profits goes to them. Bare this in mind when there as the staff are volunteers and things may take a bit longer!

Great place to enjoy brunch or cafe in a silence but convenient location! The scrambled eggs are awesome and so is the banana smoothie. There are also power sockets where you can charge your laptop or cellphone. In addition, there's free Wi-Fi to use so it's just a great place to spend your leisure time at:)

Do you like a side of social good with your eggs? Well then you're in luck. The new cafe on Central Street is also a not for profit. Eating avo on toast never felt so virtuous. The coffee's good; the smoothie selection ace. The brunch food is good and straight - pancakes, waffles, avo, poached eggs, salmon. Nothing surprising - just simple food done well. And the cakes looked absolutely stunning! Good amount of plug points and wifi for you worker bees too. Rock up and bask in the glow of helping others over your soy flat whites.

Just got an iced americano but it was super bitter and weak at the same time. Bleh. WiFi and plugs are a plus though :)

Hands down my favourite scrambled eggs in the world! They Fritata and salads are great. On weekends the mushrooms on sourdough!!
