The Royal Palace is celebrated for its extensive menu that features a variety of authentic Chinese dishes, with a special emphasis on hot pot dining. One of the standout experiences here is the huo guo, where diners can select from a wide array of ingredients including fresh meats, seafood, vegetables, and noodles, all cooked to perfection in a bubbling broth. The Royal Palace's dedication to authentic Chinese cuisine is rooted in its chefs' passion for regional flavors and traditional cooking techniques. A fun fact is that the restaurant's hot pot broth is carefully crafted over hours to develop its rich, layered taste, ensuring each ingredient is infused with authentic flavor. The staff's attentive service and the restaurant's lively atmosphere make every meal here a delightful experience.

We were here for huo guo or hot pot and whilst the tick-sheet is in Chinese only, they do kindly provide an English translation on a separate sheet of A4.


 It was hard to keep track of the 44 dishes we ordered for our feast. Suffice to say, there was a mix of meat, fish, seafood, meatballs, fishballs, mushrooms, bean curd, vegetables, and of course noodles.


 The hot pot is £20/head (min 2 persons) and like Little Lamb, this deal allows each diner to select 5 hotpot items. As we were a large party, we were allowed to choose an additional four dishes (like we needed these) and as we paid cash, we also received a 10% discount on the food (but not the drinks).


 Service was good and my only grumble was that it was difficult to cook with a single hot pot for a party of eight. With hindsight, we may have been better served with two separate pots although that may have resulted in a less convivial atmosphere.


 I heartily recommend Royal Palace for hotpot. I'd also like to return here and check out some of their regional Chinese specialities.
