What an incredible experience. We tried the 20-course experience. Everything was fantastic. The chocotherapy experience was certainly different but quite enjoyable. The rose petals at the end was also something I’ve yet to experience in other places. The foods were well done and incredibly tasty. I truly enjoyed this restaurant.

I am so late on leaving a review that I am ashamed. We dined here while visiting DC in 2023 and it was the most memorable food moment of my life thus far. I will say, I didn’t have an experience palette before but that was precisely why I chose this restaurant. I wanted to try new foods and more complex flavors, and we got exactly that! This was also my first time dining at a Michelin star restaurant and it was everything I had hoped for and more. It’s honestly hard to describe but the melody of flavors flowed perfectly together. We also got the cocktail package with it which amplified and complimented our dishes even more. I think everyone should try El Cielo and I talk about it often! I can’t wait until the next time I can go back. I attached some of our favorite dishes but not all because I’d hate to ruin any surprises :)

This place was good but it didn’t blow me away. I celebrated my 31st birthday at EL Cielo, hoping to feel extra special (considering we paid for the birthday add on) and was expecting a superb culinary experience. I’ve honestly had better in South Africa for less than a quarter of the price and if we’re comparing locally, Pineapple and Pearls was more memorable mainly because everything came together beautifully and was executed without a flaw. It’s the same price and if I were to pick between the two, I would pick P&P. I didn’t feel much sincerity with the EL Cielo staff. I felt they got tired midway through the experience and would just set dishes down on the table without much context. I also didn’t know when the experience started and/or ended - a bit choppy. There were delays between dishes and the servers would always go back to the kitchen to retrieve something they had missed. They also weren’t aware it was my birthday until I asked what the “birthday experience” included. One thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was how the server gave me a goody-bag at the very end but left my mother out.

I’m giving them 4 stars because they did put in effort and the food was delicious and nicely presented. Loved the animated papaya cocktail but they still have a long way  to go. Was I appreciative of the time and intricate culinary detail? Absolutely!  Would I ever dine here again or recommend to a friend? Probably not🐯

This is my favorite DC Michelin star restaurant yet. It's interactive, the dining experience utilizes all of your senses, they don't have too many seats so even when the restaurant is full it's not loud. The service was impeccable, every menu item was described and the Colombian inspiration story was explained. The decor was simple, clean, modern with clear touches of Colombia everywhere. We did the 10 course experience and I was full to the brim. Each dish was flavorful and delicious, with my favorite being the bonuelo (black stone looking one). I can not recommend this place enough. The price is great, the experience is amazing, and the food is out of this world!!
