My husband and I were visiting Chicago from Los Angeles and decided to explore the Wicker Park neighborhood. I had looked up a few galleries ahead of time as I always enjoy hunting for high quality, non-touristy but affordable art pieces while traveling. Jackson Junge was on our list but we still just stumbled onto it. The gallery has a nice open, friendly ambiance and a range of colorful, tastefully displayed contemporary pieces. We thoroughly enjoyed browsing. The figurative drawings of Benjye Troob caught my eye and I became engrossed. The gallery staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and non-pressuring - plus they offered me a cup of coffee, near and dear to my heart. Assistant manager Kaitlyn, another associate or two, and owner Chris spent time chatting with us, weighing in on the pieces we were admiring, and sharing anecdotes about the artist. Once we decided to make a purchase, they helped us figure out which two pieces complemented each other best and worked with our decor. We did not expect to select framing until we got home but they were so helpful and generous with their ideas that we ultimately let them take care of this for us. There was no pressure, only friendliness and support. And we are now enjoying the artwork in our home, along with its positive assocation to a wonderful time in the gallery and in Chicago.

We held our wedding ceremony and reception at the Jackson Junge Gallery last fall and could not have been more pleased with the staff and space! We stumbled across the gallery after searching for nontraditional wedding venues in the city of Chicago that offer maximum flexibility (we already had a caterer in mind and didn't want to be forced to choose from an "approved" list). J2 Gallery was perfect because: it's budget friendly; we could bring our own furniture, food, alcohol, etc. (though you can rent a variety of items from the venue, which we did); the space is beautiful and full of an eclectic array of modern art (read: minimal decorations required, though I believe you can pay to turn the gallery into a blank slate if you prefer); the staff are friendly, helpful, and overall a pleasure to work with; and it is right near, but not on, the hopping Damen/Milwaukee/North intersection of Wicker Park (easy for our guests to access via public transit or by cab and, incidentally, down the street from the location of our first date!). Lindsay was fabulous in helping us plan our big day and managing set up. Chris first introduced us to the space (and unknowingly convinced us it was perfect for us!) and was there all day and night on the big day. He gave us all sorts of tips based on his experience with other events in the space (including his own wedding), which was super helpful. Laura was also able to be on site in the evening to answer questions about the art, which a number of our guests commented on and appreciated. Overall, a fantastic experience we get to re-live anytime we visit the gallery! :)
