Choosing our wedding photographer was one of the most important decisions we made for our big day, and we could not be happier with our choice! From the very beginning, Michelle was incredibly responsive and a joy to work with. She made the entire process so easy, always answering our questions quickly and following up with us to make sure we were on the same page. On the wedding day, Michelle was a true professional. She arrived early and was able to effortlessly handle the chaos of a large wedding party. Her ability to quickly and efficiently organize our family and friends for group photos was truly impressive, saving us so much time and stress. The final images are absolutely outstanding. The quality is breathtaking, and Michelle captured every single moment we could have wanted, and then some. We were amazed at how many beautiful photos we received; there were more than enough to perfectly tell the story of our day. Additionally, she captured unexpected (but flattering) moments of people in their natural states without anyone knowing it was being done! We are so grateful to have such incredible photos to remember our wedding by. Thank you for everything!

When my now husband and I began looking for a wedding photographer, we weren't sure where to start. Luckily, we discovered Michelle Lytle Photography because Michelle is a co-owner of the wedding venue we chose. We loved Michelle's photography style as we explored her website as she offers a mix of traditional posed photographs as well as unique perspectives. She described her approach as photo-journalistic. Michelle was able to work with us to find a package that fit our budget and captured the images we would cherish. On the day of the wedding, we met Michelle at the Lytle House (where we were dropping some items off) and she traveled with us by train to Loyola University Chicago to capture some photos of the two of us before heading back to the venue for family photos before the ceremony. At Loyola, we ran into an issue with one of our boutonnieres and -after catching the moment for posterity- Michelle helped us get it properly situated. We only spent about 20 minutes at Loyola, but Michelle was able to capture us in various poses, with a variety of backdrops as well as candid moments walking to and riding the train. We had about 30 minutes set aside for family photos and Michelle moved everyone around with a gentle command to capture all of the posed photos we listed in advance and some we hadn't thought of. Although our ceremony and reception were all in one location, Michelle expertly captured us from different angles and with different backgrounds to differentiate each moment. After family photos, Michelle took the two of us to a unique location under the 'L' tracks nearby to capture a few more couples shots. This served the dual purpose of getting us out of the venue as more guests arrived. During the ceremony, Michelle moved quickly and stealthy about capturing so many beautiful photos from various perspectives that when we received the photos later, it seemed like there must have been multiple photographers. After the ceremony, we had requested a photo of us with all of our friends and family, again Michelle was able to gently usher everyone together to capture a big group shot. After that, Michelle captured candid shots of our guests mingling, the table settings, and food truck set-up. Since we had only booked Michelle through cocktail hour, she found a moment as she wrapped up to congratulate us before ducking out. Michelle captured all of the key moments of the ceremony and cocktail hour but also had a deft eye for subtle details. For example, she snapped a close-up photo of the anklet my mother was wearing, which happened to be a gift my grandfather had given to my grandmother. It was small moments like these that brought a flood of emotions as we reviewed the photos online about 2.5 weeks after the ceremony. Michelle also sent a preview of her favorite shot the morning after the wedding, which was a great surprise on the way to our honeymoon. All of the photographs Michelle captured were processed beautifully in black and white and color and provided to us in an online gallery that is available to us forever. Michelle offers options to purchase photo books or prints, but also allows a limited number of downloads so you can do what you wish with the photos. Michelle was wonderful to work with and the images she captured will be treasured forever. The only "regret" we have is that we decided to save some money in our budget by not booking her through our entire reception, which is the only thing we would do differently. We highly recommend Michelle for all of your photographic needs.

Where to start with this one? I absolutely loved working with Michelle and Robyn. Michelle is super professional; she's been doing this in Chicago for a long time and it really shows. She's super hilarious but has a no nonsense attitude when it comes to what she does (and does it well). I spent A LOT of time researching photographers and one thing that stuck out about Michelle was that she wasn't afraid to be straight to the point - creating a timeline, calling out best spots for photos, being super fair when it came to negotiating. I not only liked her but I really respected her. Another thing I found was that a lot of people are excellent photographers but not good business people. Michelle and Robyn are both! My now husband and I felt totally comfortable the whole engagement session - taking shots at the bar where we met, finding some cool spots in Wicker/Logan for the urban vibe. Again, we were all set within an hour and have amazing shots that we love. Fast forward to day of wedding - Michelle gets it DONE! A good wedding photographer is part listener, part drill sergeant. I mean we're on a timeline, people! My wedding party thought she was hilarious and liked that we got it done efficiently and well - she knew the shots and didn't need to spend a million minutes positioning us "just right." Her and Robyn are a perfect team and the day really captures us and our personality, especially around the love of our family and friends. My husband and I didn't need to look like we belonged on an Anthropologie catalog cover - we just wanted to look like two better, happier versions of ourselves on one of the best days of our life. And that is exactly what we got! I cannot thank Michelle and Robyn enough and would highly recommend them to anyone else.

Last January, my 12- and 13-year-old pups began to have health issues, and I decided I wanted to get some professional photos of them. I investigated a few photographers, but Michelle had a special for senior dogs, so I contacted her. I'm so very grateful I did... I should have known that anyone who offered a special for portraits of senior pups would be an amazing human with a compassionate heart. We met Michelle and Robyn at the beach in Rogers Park a few weeks later on an unusually warm February afternoon. They were so patient and sweet with my dogs and ended up capturing some of the most beautiful photos that truly reflected the different personalities of each pup with gorgeous backgrounds and lighting.... I'm still in awe of the talent these women have to artfully compose photographs with [at times] uncooperative subjects! We said goodbye to sweet Gully in May and Satchel a few days ago... and I am so thankful I decided to order all the photographs. I will treasure them as they remind me of the wonderful years I got to spend with my little buddies. If you're on the fence about pet photography, I understand. I thought it was a bit silly too. But in the end, I'm so very grateful to have these incredible photographs of my best buds. Call Michelle-- you will be glad you did.

I will preface this by saying I HATE BEING PHOTOGRAPHED. I am super awkward and not photogenic and I do not like being center of attention. But I got married, so all that had to happen. My husband and I planned our wedding from out-of-state, and Michelle was the first and only photographer we talked to. We had to Skype her, and even through a computer screen, her personality put us totally at ease. We also went with her because her photo journalism style meant less stiff posing stuff (AKA WHAT I HATE DOING). We had an engagement shoot at Revolution Brewing, which was perfect because it gave us a chance to get used to working with her AND the pictures came out beautifully! On our wedding day, Michelle and Robyn were like ninjas! Most of the time I didn't even see them or notice them taking pictures...and then we got our photos. WOW. I couldn't have asked for higher quality!!! They really told the story of our day, from the tiniest Pinterest-y details to the lovely emotional moments. It was really perfect!

Michelle recently shot our tiny Chicago city hall wedding and we could not be happier clients! Everything was a breeze including the communication leading up to wedding day, the payment options, her helpful guidance during the photo session, and the ease of accessing photos later from the website. Michelle photographed my daughter's wedding in July 2019 and did an amazing job. As a family notorious for closed eyes, goofy expressions and otherwise appearing as odd, Michelle kept snapping and got GREAT photos. The formal portraits are all wonderful and she did some really special things with the candid photos. It was a beautiful, happy day and her pictures captured it all. HIGHLY recommend!

This photog got a big brain. it shows in her pics. Michelle also has big heart. you feel it in every photo. Her presences is warm, approachable and also transparent so the moments are not altered, but captured in its best light. Michelle has the picture person skills you want when you need them most. she even made this dog(me) look almost human. a miracle.

We had Michelle photograph our wedding 5 years ago and I still look at the pictures and love them. She took care of everything. I didn't have to worry about anything photography related. I'd highly recommend her to family or a friend!

Let me begin by acknowledging that I thought long and hard about whether or not to submit this review. But after a great deal of consideration, I felt compelled to do so. In fairness to Michelle Lytle Photography, it should be known that my gripe is in regard to a Christmas gift certificate I gave as a gift in 2011. A long time ago. I stumbled upon this gift certificate while I was sifting through my late father's documents. Long story short: the gift certificate I bought was meant for my brother and his young family. My father accidentally took it home with him. My $100 holiday gift was going to the wrong house. This gift certificate has no expiration date on it. So I called Michelle to set up a photo shoot for my brother. Michelle said yes, I could set it up. But she was unwilling to honor the original terms of the gift certificate. Instead, I had to pay current rates. Michelle said I had to pay a total of $480 for the photo. My $100 gift was going to cost me a lot, lot more. I was expecting a modest increase in the cost, but not full rate. Granted, I hold myself accountable for a great deal of the confusion. I didn't follow-up with my brother with respect to the photo shoot. But I live in Arizona. And photo shoots are not top-of-mind when I'm speaking to my brother. I am neither bitter, nor angry, nor vindictive. Rather, my feelings are hurt that Michelle's inflexibility in her rates has forced me to question her motives. Is she a photographer who is passionate about her profession? Or rather, is she a hard core businesswoman who is in it for the money?
