Lovely place in the upper and less crowded part of Kloof Street. Great breakfast, fantastic coffee and friendliest service imaginable! Thank you Ru-Anne and Stewart for the great time. We will be back

Liquorice & Lime is a cute little restaurant on Kloof street with a lovely view of table mountain, and it’s conveniently close to other local eateries and shops. The restaurant’s size means it can get quite busy, and while we had to wait outside for a bit, a friendly waitress promptly brought us a menu to peruse.

Once we were seated, the service was decent, though not particularly standout.

As for the food, it was pretty average. My friends enjoyed their tramezzinis with chips, with the chicken mayo and grilled chicken options receiving positive remarks. I opted for the Eiffel Tower breakfast, which featured French toast with Brie and balsamic dressing. Since I’m vegetarian, the waitress kindly substituted the bacon with a small cup of fruit salad. The French toast was decent, though a bit dense for my liking and it could be a bit more flavourful. The portions sizes are generous and offer a good balance between cost and value. We all enjoyed a flat white with our brunch, which was fairly well made.

We didn’t try any of the baked goods or desserts but they do have a good selection based on the menu and display in the restaurant.

Overall, Liquorice & Lime provides a pleasant dining experience and could be a nice place to stop if you are looking for a place to grab a bite or a drink and enjoy a nice view.

One of our local spots, it was a really cute stop in but to my surprise when the bill came I was charged the full amount (R125) for basically flapjacks and strawberries (indulgence stack). I had asked for no bacon and it came with the smallest dollop of mascarpone and no bacon which was fine. I’m just quite upset that it wasn’t communicated to me that I could maybe sub something for the bacon or at least, that I would be charged the full amount for basically 1 topping. We had to leave to catch a flight so there was no time to complain or make a fuss. Quite disappointed. On a separate note, my partner loved his eggs benny.

Yummy healthy food, and well presented. Breakfasts are priced fairly for the serving sizes and quality. Very nice view of the mountain from the window counter seats. On weekends you must book or else you could be standing outside on the pavement waiting for seating... but order a coffee and sit on the bench outside while you wait.

We attended here 25th February.  We are visiting from UK and took my cousins dog with us. She was very much welcomed inside and given a bowl of water and a bowl of doggy snacks.   Our food was delicious too.
