Started with some Portuguese borre, Sagres, what a cool find.  Place has a cool vibe to it.  The menu is so unique. We had French Brazilian Escalope, thin almond breaded turkey steak and Maccous, an afghani chicken skewer with couscous; both were delicious and eaten in their entirety.

Highly recommend this hidden gem.

DELICIOUS food + margaritas, reasonably priced for Paris, & fantastic service. PLEASE NOTE: standards for service at restaurants in France vs. America are VERY DIFFERENT... we were visiting from the US and quickly learned that in France you can expect slower service & waiters who are very direct and will get you what you need, but won't be checking in with you every 10 minutes and won't bring you your check/water/bread/etc unless you ask for it. It's not a bad thing, just different ‍ so if you walk in with the expectation of US-style food service, don't be surprised if you're disappointed. That being said, this was by far the best service we had while in Paris! Our waiters were friendly, efficient, and very kind and helpful with recommendations/making sure we had what we needed/etc. And the food was incredible, super flavorful and deliciously interesting combinations of ingredients. 10/10 would visit again.

The food is pretty good - and plentiful. Their specialty seems to be chicken, but they also have a few other options, including vegetarian. All the plates that we tried (€14-19 per main) were delicious. Just make sure that you like the spice(s) in your dish, because they use quite a lot. 

We had dessert as well (€7-8) - they were huuuuge, and pretty big. 1L pitchers of cocktails (margaritas!) are €25-30 - we shared one, it was nice, but not the best cocktail I've ever had (and I am not sure that they are very generous with the spiking...)

The restaurant itself is Paris-hipster - a bit of a weird decoration, a bit of loud music, dim lightning. You can book a table and I'd advise doing that, otherwise you'll end up in the tables in the middle of the restaurant (vs. nice ones on the side).

Good food and happy atmosphere. We enjoyed feeling at home and eating a home cooked meal. You will enjoy the wait staff who are friendly and dont rush you. The dessert menu will not disappoint.

I'm super sorry to have to downgrade them. Perhaps I've just grown up too much in the past 2 1/2 years since I went last time? I don't know. Too much sauce on everything. The desserts, which I raved about previously, were highly un-delectable this time. The lights were too bright. There are no appetizers (how did I not notice this last time?). And there are only 2 types of wine. They do maintain 2 stars for having very nice staff and having two vegetarian dishes on the menu. I feel bad, but it was simply not a great way to end my evening.

I'm not entirely sure why i chose to eat here. It had a Caribbean vibe, but before I sat down they were already telling me what they didn't have on the menu that night. What I ended up ordering was a 20 euro bowl of random. This has by far been my least favorite dining experience in France. And to top it off it was one of the more expensive ones. Do not reco

I have been eating at Ave Maria for the past 5 years and loving it every time. First there's the decor and atmosphere; friendly, unique, and extremely confortable. The place is very popular yet there is always room for a few more. No doubt famous for its cocktails, I love that they have Portuguese beer and Vinho Verde (the Portuguese in me gets a little proud!).  The cuisine is global and I especially like their Amazonian fish-n-chips and their Brazilian empadão.  Im usually so stuffed I don't have room for their delicious desserts. I hope you don't have that problem!

a place that is very very much about the eclectic/kitsch decor. it's a fun place to go with a big or small group of friends, order a pitcher of something or a couple of bottles of wine. the prices are reasonable, the staff are fine.


 near the end, even though we had paid and were just finishing our bottles, they started getting a little pushy trying to get us out. an ex-barkeep myself, i understand the frustration, but if they've paid it's usually pretty easy to close around the last group and then just wipe their table at the end...


 it's cute, lively etc. but the one thing that might make not come back in the very near future is that they only sell bottled beer. draft beer is just inherently SO SO much better. the less filtered the better i say (also fresher).

Great people, AMAZING food, fantastic atmosphere. I could not have asked for more. Traveling from the U.S., we were unsure of what to eat in the area when we stumbled upon Ave Maria. A bit different than your typical Parisian food, but definitely well worth it. One of my favorite places to eat on our trip.
