We made a reservation for Christmas. It was later in the evening -- there were a few other tables and many empty ones as well. Felt very old school, which I suppose it is because it's been around for a long time. Service was great -- I think our server was a little new maybe, but the maitre d was very hospitable as well and we had everything we needed. 

We did the two courses, main and dessert. I went for the fish in a lemon sauce which was very rich nd well done (was looking forward to mussels and frites but they didn't have it on the menu that night, which was a bummer but it happens). Partner got a macaroni casserole. (We both got the creme brûlée. All the food was very well done. Water was 8 euros which was pricey, wine was lovely. 

As a little bonus, one of the tables nearby ordered crepes suzette so we got to see how they made that table side too, which was fun.
Overall a very pleasant experience.

The duck confit was scrumptious. The lamb confit was delicious and the steaks perfect. The onion soup one of the best I've had throughout France. But the service, politeness and humor of the amazing staff made us come back. One of our favorite French restaurants in Paris. Rock Steve's hit it right on this visit!

The service was very good, we opted for inside because our children do not like to be around second hand smoke, otherwise a great outdoor seating spot. The food was good, not great, not bad but was average as far as Paris is concerned.  Ordered the escargot (decent), frog legs (very good) French onion (good), lamb shoulder (good), sole (seemed a lil overcooked) and mussels (average) great desert and wine options

Our first French meal in Paris. Wonderful Parisian ambiance. Food was decent. Presentation was superb. Service was good.

Our first night in Paris & we wanted to grab some food near by we came across this place. 
We came in & were seated right away , drinks to start I had an Aperol Spritz , hubby had a Mojito both good. 
They start u off w some Olives, hot bread not bad. Appetizer I tried the French Onion soup it was pretty good. 
Main dishes I had the Roasted chicken w potatoes it was good, nice tasting chicken good sauce. 
Also tried the Pan fried Scallops & Parmesan risotto this was good as well. 
For dessert we got the Crème brûlée, yumm very good light tasting. 
Nice restaurant, it was quiet,  good service we enjoyed our meal.

The ambiance is intimate, tastefully done, fine wood work.   The best part is the food, from presentation to your pallet, an epicurean delight.
Truly one of the finest dining experiences in all of Paris.    The service is equal to the challenge of excellence.   What a treat!   Thank you for delivering exquisite French cuisine.   A gold medal winner!

On the way to Eiffel Tower, we decided to find a restaurant off the beaten path of the typical tourists to find genuine French cuisine that is not priced accordingly to tourists. La Gauloise is within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower. We were attracted to the restaurant due to its authentic French offerings and stylish interior that makes it feel like you have taken a time machine a couple hundred years back to a French Bistro. I ordered the escargot and coq au vin. Both the dishes that I ordered were very good and priced moderately (reasonable in my opinion). The service was great, our coats were taken upon entering, English menus supplied to us, and a waiter willing to inform us on dishes we have never heard of before. Such welcomeness made us want to try everything on the menu!

Came to this restaurant close to my Hotel during my stay in Paris.  We arrived at around 7pm and there were only 2 or 3 other table besides us.  The decor is very traditional and classy with dark hard wood as the main theme. Our server spoke excellent english and was very nice and efficient.  They offer a 28 euro 3 course dinner or 24 euro 2 course dinner which is a great deal! I saw some locals and tourists dining there that night however the restaurant never filled up.

I got this roast chicken dish with potatoes and carrots and my husband got the pork belly.  Both were very delicious, my chicken was very simple but yet very flavorful and moist.  One critique would be that both my dish and my husband's dish although different protein, were prepared the exact same way with same sauce and sides.

Overall this is a good and simple restaurant with a lot of parisien charm.  I would recommend if you are staying at a hotel around the area.

This is the true French food I was looking for. Food and staff were both excellent. Went back after our first visit since it was all so good
