The best grilled cheese sandwich in London. I've seen a lot of new places come about over past year but this is the original after starring in many food markets.

Of course the ultimate and maybe the main rival is Borough Markets finest Kappacasein has been been around forever to the delight of many but in terms of a place more central namely leather lane most on the times GMC is outstanding. Mostly £5-7 the don't hold back on cheese and the bread is toasted perfectly.

The one I'm looking out for is their special of peanut butter and jelly.

Nothing like the smell of cheese being grilled in a delicious sandwich with pulled pork. I for one am a big fan of it. 

You can find Grill My Cheese at the Friday market of Southbank Centre and I definitely think you need to try a sandwich. The cheese one is £6 and the pork one £6.50 and they are both delicious. In terms of street food this is a good one.

Lovely toasted cheese sandwiches with a bit of oomph. I had baby got Mac, which consists of cheese, macaroni cheese, and pulled pork. There was a hint of BBQ sauce, but not so much as too detract from the gooey cheese. £6 for a pimped up toastie. Not bad for lunch.

Ladies behind the truck were friendly and service was quick (yay no queue!)

After seeing the Rainbow Grilled Cheese on social media I knew I had to track it down and so I put it in the diary to make a special trip on Tuesday when they would be making it. I was expecting there to be a long queue and I was worried they might run out, but to my delight, I turned up and was able to get served straightaway. I got snapping photos and chatting to the two ladies who were running the stall and they were really friendly. I got so excited to see it being grilled and was looking forward to getting a photo of the stringy cheese when I got my hands on it! Unfortunately I couldn't achieve the stringy cheese photo that I had envisioned!! 

I was pleased to see that they were trying to make the grilled cheese as healthy as it could be given that it was cheese and it had beetroot, roasted onion, rocket, goats cheese and truffle oil. I thought the goats cheese was a great touch and added a good flavor, but it didn't seem that evenly added and only every now and then did I get a mouthful of it, but it was nice when I did. Also, I LOVE truffle oil and I couldn't really taste it. I was a bit disappointed that the toast was a bit on the burnt side, which affected the flavor. I found the sandwich to be ok, but nothing too amazing. I don't think it was worth the £7.50 that I paid for it. I think I was more impressed with the colors than the flavor and taste of the sandwich itself. If they have another novelty flavor I might try it if their stall is at a location that I am in already, but I probably wouldn't make a special trip, as I did for the rainbow grilled cheese.

Americans in London. We're taking over, and we're bring our food with us. You hear us complaining all the time: 

"Where's the good Mexican?"
"Where can I get a good burger?"
"This isn't like we'd get back in the States!"

Luckily, I've managed to find quite a few places that have taken American food and done it well. Luckily Grill My Cheese is one of them. 

I happened to find them at UCL. UCL does a Christmas concert thing in the main quad, and there are lots of stalls selling food and other goods there. This is where I had my first Grill My Cheese experience.

As an American, I love a good grilled cheese. So I was eager to see what they had in store. Interestingly, they don't make your ordinary grilled cheese sandwiches, but they have made them even more crazily American than you can imagine. What was on mine? Cheese (duh), Macaroni and Cheese (another hard thing to find done well in the UK), pulled pork and BBQ sauce. It's like an American buffet on a sandwich. And the sandwich was pretty fantastic. Seriously. It could have possibly used a bit more BBQ sauce to pull it all together, but I devoured the thing pretty quickly.

Other flavors include the one I had minus the pork, the "Na'cho cheese" with mac and cheese, salsa, corn chips and sour cream, and the "Hey Pesto" with mac and cheese, pesto and tomatoes.

I did question the clearly non-American owner about the use of Mac and cheese on a sandwich. I find it quite unusual. She seemed to think that it was fairly common. Maybe it's something that occurred post-emigration. I don't know. After eating the sandwich, I clearly didn't question the idea anymore. Gotta love a carb on carb sandwich!

Next time, I'm going to try the Mexican style one.

I've been trying to land one of their grilled cheese sandwiches for awhile! I saw something about them in TimeOut and have been obsessing about it ever since. Well, today was my lucky day- after doing a bit of research about timing and location, I set off from East London to Leather Lane. As promised they were there and I got my toastie. I had the 'baby got mac' which I thought was delicious, cheesy with just the right amount of sauce! I would definitely recommend taking a trip over there to try it, I know I'll be going back!

Oh my days I had the best ever toastie from these guys. I went for a mac and cheese toastie which I thought would be so over the top carby, but was actually genius. Perfect amount of cheese, amazing flavour, I didn't want it to end! Heaven.

Recently was on Leather Lane and saw this stand. There was a sign that said it was the Number 1 Streetfood to "try before you die" according to Buzzfeed, which is why I did try it. I'm not usually a fan of grilled cheese, but this may have changed my mind. It was the best grilled cheese I've ever had! So toasty, so crisp, and the cheese was oozing and hot. As someone visiting from the U.S., I can say this is definitely a must. Their staple item is the grilled mac and cheese, but it came with meat. I wish they had it without meat for the vegetarians and vegans out there, because I had to default to the plain grilled cheese that didn't have any macaroni!

The best cheese toasties in town. Funny names (Justin Brieber etc) and innovative toasties, have a G.M.C. For a classic and the Baby Got Mac for a decadent treat: pulled pork and mac and cheese.

4 stars for the cheese dusted French fries we had today at the South Bank in London. I don't know what else happened to these fries besides being exposed to cheese dust but they're amazing! Take the time to find Grill My Cheese.
