Anna Saigon was a fantastic experience and definitely worth the price. The food was magnificent—rich in flavor and beautifully prepared. However, one waitress seemed a bit frustrated when I had trouble understanding her, even after she repeated herself a few times, and her impatience was a bit off-putting. While it didn’t detract significantly from the experience given the value, it did affect the overall vibe. When I asked her for a wine recommendation, she seemed uncertain, so we ended up choosing from the recommended list ourselves. Overall, though, the quality of the food and the ambiance made for a memorable visit, and I would still recommend it for a delicious dining experience at a great price.

From outside looking in, the place might look like a hole in the wall to you, but it’s pretty fancy decorated inside.
Their foods, for some reason, always have fish sauce element in them, including ice cream. We didn’t try it as the sauce smell weird.
Foods were good, but in tiny portions, so you gotta ordered a lot to be full, which made the bill high.

Review of AnAn Restaurant

I had high hopes for AnAn, especially since I booked a reservation weeks in advance while still in the USA. The booking process was done via email, and I was told they only had a set dinner time at 6 PM. However, when we arrived, there was confusion, and it took some time for them to locate our reservation. Eventually, we were seated at the bar, which felt cramped and not ideal for enjoying a pre-fixe meal. For a price of $102 USD (which is quite expensive for Vietnam), I expected not just good food but exceptional service, which, unfortunately, was lacking.

The food presentation was beautiful. The coconut shrimp ceviche was unique and impressive, and the Banh Mi was outstanding. The chocolate dessert was good too, with great presentation. But overall, the rest of the meal fell short. The flavors were underwhelming, and frankly, I could have found better street food in Vietnam at a fraction of the price. The food looked great but lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for.

The service was disappointing compared to the warmth and hospitality I had experienced at other restaurants in Vietnam. The servers seemed distracted and gave us the wrong menu at first, and there was confusion about what we had signed up for. We were moved around multiple times until we finally got a table with proper seating. The staff seemed cold and rushed, often bringing out dishes for several tables at once, leaving ours to cool down by the time it arrived. The main chef or owner was nowhere to be seen, and it felt like we were just being served by the kitchen staff.

One highlight was that they allowed us to enjoy our dessert on the rooftop, which was a lovely touch and added a nice finish to the meal.

Overall, while AnAn offers some beautifully presented dishes, the lackluster flavors and disappointing service make it hard to recommend. Considering all the incredible food Vietnam has to offer, this restaurant, unfortunately, felt skippable.

Also, the duck dumpling soup in the glass was the most mediocre dish I have in Vietnam. 🥲🫠

Amazing Michelin star restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City. Nestled among the street food area, it is such a great surprise and refreshing place. Drinks are good and food options are well carved out. A bit of fusion with local flavours. Service is very good. Has a total of 5 floors to eat including a rooftop option.

We took the Chef‘s tasting menu, so we sat at the ground floor. Book in advance and check the menu prior to booking, to make sure that you are going to enjoy. Excellent presentation and explanation of all the dishes. The chef went all the way in preparing for me a different dish that would take consideration of my lactose intolerance. Delicious drinks too! We spent 10M vnd (about 370€) for two, including two bottles of water and 5 cocktails.
