We had lunch yesterday for the first time. What an amazing gem this place is.  Lovely friendly staff. Fabulous tasting food. We ordered the rice and peas, jerk chicken, curried goat and brown stew, all tasted delicious.  All served with salad and slaw.  Great music playing and such a lovely atmosphere.  Will definitely be returning when next in Notting Hill.  I recommend you go too.

Portobello Shack opened with a massive party under the Westway in October. The shack itself sits at the corner of Portobello Road and Acklam Village. With prices similar to those charged on the street food market outside on weekends, Portobello Shack offers a more comfortable alternative for those who prefer to enjoy their lunches sitting down.

I can never resist jerk chicken, and the version served here is delicious. My friend opted for the salt fish and we shared 'festival' (a type of dumplings) and plantain fries. 

We came on the most miserable day with rain pouring down outside, spicy Caribbean food warms up from the inside (there doesn't seem to be any heating though and I left feeling a bit chilly after all). It was lovely chatting to the managers who did a brilliant job serving a full house despite being short staffed - well, you wouldn't go Caribbean if you are in a hurry!

Amazing food, even more amazing staff! We came here on Saturday night just as the shack was about to close but the staff still accommodated us and the food was spectacular. Really recommend this cute little restaurant right near the market.
