It was recommended that we try the best Fish and Chips place in London. It's close to a station and short walk.  

We had a day of touring and leaded here for dinner. The place had a take away on the corner and the restaurant (sit down) is down the side street. 

We were seated immediately and reviewed the menu. We ordered the traditional fish and chips and wow it was not a couple of small pieces of fish but a good size filet. Fried golden brown and served with excellent chips. 

We topped the meal off with desert and that made a great meal. 

The service was a little slow and not as attentive as we'd hoped but overall and excellent meal. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly. 

Want the best fish and chips go here the next time you're in London.

I don't know why when a restaurant/takeaway has become well known, everybody goes there and fail to notice that the standard of the food has gone down the drain.  Is it because it is "famous"?
I live not far away from this place and I still remember when it was voted the best fish and chips in London. This was in the 80's 
NO MORE I say. 
To get served lukewarm soggy overcooked black in appearance chips was the last straw. 
I complained to the establishment some time ago about it and today, once again,  I gave them a try. Same as it ever was. Gross. 
It will be my last time there as I can't stand to be taken for a fool and charged exorbitantly for at best a mediocre if not a rubbish food.

How did this place get such good reviews? It's incredibly bland. I mean no flavor whatsoever. Why is tartare sauce an extra £0.50? It's kinda fundamental in fish and chips. The fries were meh. Plenty of seating inside on bar stools, but why anyone comes here boggles my mind.

I wasn't that impressed with the fish and chips here. Ordered the cod and it still had a lot of the black skin on it. The fries were dry and not crispy on the outside. 

Inside decor looks nice but seems dated. Doesn't feel fresh. 

Service was friendly and excellent.

Plenty of space after the rush. Nice waitress very tentative. Our first fish and chips in London. Came recommended by an uber driver. 
Well the bites made my niece sick. My cod was slimy and undercooked a bit. The chips were excellent. Dessert was pleasant. Setting was relaxing

Excited to finally be hereMy first time here! I lived in London for years and I had never heard of this place before tiktok. I have to say it's really great. We were on a vacation so we booked a lunch on a weekday (had a reservation just in case) and we were the only people in the dining room until the very end of our meal. Totally private dining. It was pretty cool. 

Food was all great. My husband had his first mushy pees and fish & chips and loved it. Not my favorite fish & chips of all time in London but still very good. The spaced is really beautiful and aesthetic as well so I would absolutely recommend it to people. 

What I would do differently next time is go to the counter service bar (attached but next door) which has limited seating, but similar offerings for less money. So yes adding this to my list of London recommendation's.

I've dine here for over 40 years. This is likely the very best restaurant for fish lovers in London. I personally love Dover sole, and the Seashell serves it for close to half of what other restaurants charge. 

Do know this is an extremely popular restaurant with Londoners so time your arrival accordingly or be patient waiting for a table. The wait is worthwhile.

A bit more expensive than your normal fish and chip shop but i think they are quite popular so that explains it. 

I love that they have sweet potato fries and outdoor seating!

Wife and I made the journey out to SeaShell thanks to a post I found on Reddit with lots of good things to say about SeaShell.

SeaShell of Lisson Grove was our first experience with the real deal fish & chips since my wife and I have never really had it properly before (maybe ever?).

Anyway, it was alright. Defintely big portions. My wife and I shared a large order when a small would've definitely sufficed. Fish skin really grosses me out, so I had to pick around it. But other than that, it wasn't awful by any means,  but it wasn't exactly like how Reddit described it either. The curry sauce was good though.

Minna (I think that was her name) was awesome though. She was friendly and helpful with her recommendations!

I ordered the halibut and chips with the tartar sauce.  Each order is made fresh and batter crispy.  The meal definately hits the spot but I found the chips/fish bland.  Adding salt was a must.  Also, was not a huge fan of the fact that the skin was left on the fish, personal preference I suppose.

The service was ok.  I understand it is cafeteria style service but was a little turned off when a certain order number was ready and was yelled out aggressively knowing full well who the clients were. 

The restaurant was relatively clean.
