This is a review of Barakat, a Cape Malay cuisine eatery located in Time Out Market.

I really wanted to like this spot, and so visited two separate times to try different dishes. The butter chicken was quite nice for the first few bites, but both dishes I tried were far too salty. The dishes were well-spiced otherwise (and the option to choose a hotter 🌶️ curry would have been great).

Great place to hang out for some afternoon drinks and light meal.
You have a selection of restaurants but not all of them are great. We had oysters and sparkling wine on our first day visiting and it was lovely.
On other days we got breakfast that was just subpar and coffee that took 20 min to make.
In summary, you will have a great experience socialising over drinks but you might not be that lucky with food.

So in love with this concept.  Delicious cocktails , I had some wings that were really small. The restroom was my absolute favorite.  Please consider adding nachos to the menu.

I recently visited Time Out Market in Cape Town, and it was an experience worth sharing. The location is fantastic, offering stunning views of the Waterfront, which really adds to the overall ambiance. The market itself is vibrant and bustling with a great variety of food stalls that cater to all tastes. Whether you're in the mood for local South African flavors or international cuisine, there's something for everyone.

I tried a flat white coffee from Nøsh Café, and it was excellent! They serve coffee from three different roasters, which adds a nice touch of variety and quality to their offerings. The attention to detail in the coffee preparation really stood out, and it’s clear they take pride in serving a great cup of coffee.

The only reason I’m not giving it a full 5 stars is the seating situation. It can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours, making it difficult to find a spot to sit and enjoy your meal. Also, prices are on the higher side, but considering the quality and the prime location, it’s understandable.

Overall, Time Out Market Cape Town is a must-visit if you’re in the area. It’s a perfect spot to sample a variety of dishes and enjoy a fantastic cup of coffee while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of the city. Just try to avoid the peak hours if you want a more relaxed experience!

One of the best Ramen Bowls I've ever had at the Restaurant "Ramenhead". Love the pork. The noodles were soft and had the most unique and rich flavor. The broth just felt like a flavorful soup you eat on a cold winter day. Staff was great. The time out market had a great vibe and great live music from a DJ. 10/10!
