Took the tour, which started in 15 mins and ran/speed walked over to the starting point. It was a lovely tour, informative with lots of fun tidbits about k-dramas filmed there too! We got plenty of time to take photos and it was otherwise a pretty quiet little tour.

I highly recommend this beautiful add-on to a visit at Changdeokgung Palace. IMPORTANT: Garden is a separate admission section of the palace. It functions with timed-entry tickets and re-entry is not allowed. Advance reservations are encouraged. I also highly recommend taking a guided tour of the garden (optional and free with admission). My tour guide was incredibly informative and hilarious. She added so much humor to the tour that I didn't want it to end. The way she explained information with humor was genius. The garden itself is absolutely beautiful with many picturesque areas. Even though it's right in Seoul, the garden is peaceful, tranquil, and quiet. Plan to spend a hour (or more) there if you want to see everything, as it is a good size.

Tickets are for specific time slots, I know many book in advance, but I had no problem getting a ticket (5000 krw) at 10.45 am for the 12.30pm entry.
Beautiful gardens, which also house some pavilions, very photogenic spot. Autumn colours are lovely right now.
The gardens were created at the same time as the palace. Many of the pavilions were destroyed during the Japanese invasion of 1592. Restoration work began in 1623, leading to its present appearance.
