The outdoor entrance boasts a spacious surrounding. It is beautiful to view. There are the statues called Haetae. I love this place.

창덕궁과 달리 원래 경복궁에는 월대가 존재하지 않다가 구한말 고종치하에 이르러서야 조성되었다.

따라서 월대를 복원해야 할 역사적 의미나 가치가 과연 있느냐를 두고 찬반의견이 팽팽했으나, 일단 복원해놓으면 경복궁의 장엄함을 더할 뿐 아니라 미적으로도 더 나을 것으로 보인다.

어쨌든 없었던 걸 새로 만든 덕수궁 월대보다야, 낫긴 하지만(문화재청에선 '재현'이라고 표현했다.)

다만 월대 앞의 9차선 차도를 경복궁역 밑 지하차도로 밀어넣고 복원될 월대와 광화문광장, 그리고 조만간 복원 후 공개될 의정부터(대한민국역사박물관 옆 공터)까지 완전히 연결시켜 차없는 광장으로 만드는 게  더 낫지 않을까 하는 아쉬움이 많이 든다.

안타깝게도 의정부 건물은 복원 대신 메타버스나 입체영상으로 재현한다는 얘길 들었다.

Unlike Changdeokgung Palace, there was originally no woldae in Gyeongbokgung Palace, and it was built only during the reign of King Gojong in the late Joseon Dynasty.

Accordingly, there were strong opinions for and against whether there was any historical significance or value in restoring Woldae, but once restored, it would not only add to the majesty of Gyeongbokgung Palace but also be aesthetically better.

In any case, it is better than the newly created Deoksugung Palace that did not exist (the Cultural Heritage Administration described it as a ‘re-enactment’).

However, wouldn't it be better to create a car-free plaza by pushing the 9-lane road in front of Woldae into an underground road under Gyeongbokgung Station and completely connecting Woldae, which will be restored, to Gwanghwamun Square, and Uijeonju (vacant lot next to the National Museum of Korean History), which will soon be opened after restoration? I feel a lot of regret.

Unfortunately, I heard that the Uijeongbu building will be recreated in a metaverse or 3D video instead of being restored.
