1일 서울 중구 정동 ‘고종의 길’이 시범 개방됐다. 고종의 길은 덕수궁 후문에서 정동공원과 러시아 공사관까지 이어지는 총 120m의 길로 고종 임금이 1896년 2월 11일부터 1897년 2월 20일까지 러시아 공사관으로 옮겨서 거처한 아관파천 당시 이어(移御)할 때 사용했던 것으로 추정되는 곳이다. 이 길은 덕수궁 선원전 부지가 2011년 미국과 토지교환을 통해 우리나라 소유가 되면서 그 경계에 석축과 담장을 쌓아 복원한 것으로 8월 한 달 시범 개방한 후 10월에 정식 개방한다. 월요일을 제외한 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지 별도의 입장료 없이 관람 가능하다.

On the 1st, ‘Gojong’s Road’ in Jeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul was opened on a trial basis. Gojong's Road is a 120m long road that runs from the back gate of Deoksugung Palace to Jeongdong Park and the Russian Embassy. It was used by King Gojong when he relocated to the Russian Embassy from February 11, 1896 to February 20, 1897. This is where it is presumed to have been done. This road was restored by building stonework and a fence around the border when the site of Seonwonjeon Hall in Deoksugung Palace became Korea's property through a land exchange with the United States in 2011. It will be opened on a trial basis in August and then officially opened in October. It can be viewed without a separate admission fee from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm except Mondays.

In the end, it was left as just a walking path, but it was like a trace of a painful wound from the past.

'조만간 다시 뵈어요!'
일제강점기에 명성황후가 일본군에 의해 시해되면서 신변에 위협을 느낀 고종과 왕세자가 러시아 공사관으로 피신한 아관파천(1896) 당시 고종의 피난길로, 정동의 덕수궁 돌담길에서 정동공원에 위치해있던 구 러시아 공사관까지 이어지는 총 120m의 길이다.

덕수궁 선원전 부지가 2011년 미국과 토지교환을 통해 우리나라 소유의 토지가 되면서 그 경계에 석축과 담장을 쌓아 복원되었다. 그러나 사진에서와 같이 주변에 공사중인 곳이 더 많아 지금 가면 길은 걸어볼 수 있으나 감흥은 적다.

완공되면 다시 와봐야지..

During the Japanese colonial era, when Empress Myeongseong was assassinated by the Japanese army, King Gojong and the Crown Prince, who felt threatened for their safety, took refuge in the Russian legation. It was King Gojong's refuge route at the time of Agwan Pacheon (1896), and runs from the stone wall road of Deoksugung Palace in Jeong-dong to the former Russian legation located in Jeongdong Park. It is a total length of 120m.

When the site of Seonwonjeon in Deoksugung Palace became land owned by Korea through a land exchange with the United States in 2011, it was restored by building stonework and a fence around the boundary. However, as shown in the photo, there are more areas under construction nearby, so if you go now, you can walk along the road, but it will not be very exciting.
