If it wasn't for the second act, the club wouldn't even deserve one star. It was clear as day that the only people going there were tourists who just were checking things off of their bucket list and people who have absolutely no connection to the techno scene whatsoever. The opening DJ had a solid track selection, but sadly a good music selection doesn't make up for the barely existent DJ skills, even less for 3 hours worth of them. Although the club regularly books amazing DJs from all over europe, but a good DJ in a bad setting still equals a bad night. For 4 to 6 Euros more, you can get into a club that actually has a good lineup and a waaaay better atmosphere. Was hoping for the best but sadly wouldn't recommend:(

Great experience. Raveland party is amazing and happens every Wednesday at John Doe.

They have awesome DJs and special drinks. Highly recommend.

Went a couple times for "Techno Thursdays" and "Hard Techno Mondays", the ladder having been a great experience with a quality local crowd, awesome djs and powerful sound system. The crowd is really what sets the vibe. Great value.

Club John Doe is a solid spot for a late-night out in Amsterdam. The music was on point, with a great selection of house and electronic that kept the dancefloor moving. The lighting and visuals added to the underground vibe that the club clearly aims for, and the crowd was diverse and up for a good time.

That said, drinks here were seriously overpriced—even for Amsterdam club standards. It would’ve been easier to enjoy the night fully without that sting at the bar.

Also, while the music and venue delivered, some of the staff came across as a bit cold and unwelcoming. A smile or some friendliness goes a long way, especially when people are spending decent money.

Still, if you’re into quality electronic music and don’t mind splashing out a bit, John Doe is a worthy stop. Just be ready for premium prices and don’t expect the warmest welcome.

Very nice ambient, a lot of people whom are going to have fun and listen to the music!
Security on sunday was very helpful, strict and vigilant. But also very open and profesional.
Only one point. The bartender was very unfriendly. I heard this from more then one person.
Anyway a great club to go party!
