We came across this museum while on a trip to Barcelona and walking down to the sea front.   We went in for a look round and it was excellent for finding out about the history of Barcelona.   There were a couple of floors or items which were really well presented and each had explanatory notes in English and I think Catalan, Spanish and I think French too.
There is a restaurant on the top floor and a separate viewing area to look out over Barcelona.
They have their own website, It's inexpensive to enter, and is really worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing, I stayed the whole afternoon in there :D
I’m a museum person, so I would say that I have seen my share of them but this one was really nice and sticked out to me because of its cool fake interiors (60er café, old school, chappell, bunker, etc.) and bunch of interactive things (sit on a wooden horse, put an armour on, making flour, etc. ). Information wise there was a lot, I think I left the museum smarter 😂
The ticket man was also very kind, same as the rest of the staff and it was completely for free for me as a student !

Wonderful place to explore Catalonia’s history! Very informative, rich and amazing! Interactive exhibits, friendly staff and reasonable price. Great spot for both locals and tourists!

This was an amazingly thorough museum for the price. The level of construction on different eras of housing was one that I haven't seen in any museum, but for those of us who do living history, it was awesome to get a sense of how people lived. There was plenty of explanation and a good deal of variety. Definitely a top recommendation to visit in Barcelona. It is very close to a local microbrewery and restaurants on the pier.

We loved the museum.

The advantage the museums of Catalonia / Barcelona have over the “New World” museums is there can be a single narrative of the foundation and development of the state/region/city.  This museum took that advantage and “ran with it”.

It had logic, it had structure, it provided context and it was interesting.

I’ve seen museums of other “New World” cities and they were not as interesting. While it is hard for those museums because of the conflict between the need to present the invasion narrative and the colonial narrative, this museum nevertheless excelled in its quality of its displays , the order they were placed in and the explanations that were provided.

This is a superb museum.
