I've been wanting to come here for so long and finally managed to get a booking.

I find that seafood places in London have often let me down, but POTL has officially become my favourite seafood restaurant. We ordered a few small plates to share, highlights include the scallops and the mackerel. Then we shared the plaice for our large plate, and wow, it was so so good. Cooked to perfection. And the potatoes on the side were 10/10.

I'd come back over and over, and certainly a must visit restaurant for fish and seafood lovers.

We’d wanted to go here for ages and finally got a date night booked in for a Saturday evening. Our reservation was at 6.30 and it wasn’t too crowded at all, although it did fill up later - but it felt cosy rather than crammed. The tables have brown paper on which I thought rather unique and fun. The menu was chalked up on a nearby board and seemed to change slightly during the night.

Everything was brought out separately which I liked - we could focus on one plate at a time. We had the fish tempura which was tasty but I wouldn’t say it was particularly noteworthy. This was followed by the cod collar with a jerk marinade which was absolutely delicious and wonderfully meaty.

After this, came the monkfish which is a densely meaty fish - but very tasty. We’d ordered the cannellini beans and the crushed potatoes to go with it which all went well together. Crushed potatoes were seriously good, definitely recommend!

My other half had a couple of glasses of wine as recommended by our waitress, I stuck with soft drinks.

The plates are all full of flavour and not too big, so we opted to share the orange and hazelnut chocolate mousse for pudding, which was excellent.

If you’re a fish fan, this is definitely a place you must visit.

I did wonder about how child-friendly it would be as I saw a child aged around 5 or 6 eating there. They don’t do kids meals, but the waitress said the fish tempura and potatoes would probably be the main choice for kids (of course, if you have children who are open to trying exciting new things, they’ll have the best time - sadly, despite my best intentions, my children are highly suspicious of interesting dishes).

Unusual dishes, fabulous service in a very compact working open kitchen and restaurant.  Portions were very small and they ran out of some of the items we wanted to order.  We loved the monkfish, turbot and lemon sole. Desserts were also great with the unusual basil pana cotta a hit!
£50 a head without alcohol and although we enjoyed the food, we did leave a bit hungry

Small contemporary seafood restaurant perfect for an anniversary dinner. I highly recommend going a bit earlier when it is less crowded. I thought the service was much better earlier in the night when they weren't so busy. The service overall was still good.

Food wise - I loved how the portion sizes weren't so large that we could try a bunch of dishes. We started with oysters and bread with seaweed butter. I would have eaten a whole tub of the butter. We moved on to scallops, monkfish, roasted cauliflower, and octopus. All amazing, but what makes me a bit sad is they change their menu as soon as they run out of something, so I probably won't be able to come back and have the same dish. We watched them change their menu twice in the same night. (Definitely not a bad thing, but I do like being able to come back to a restaurant and get my favorite dishes).

One tip - order everything at the beginning. Because they do tend to run out of dishes, make sure you reserve one (or two) for your table!
