We recently stayed at the Fairmont for a quick trip while passing through San Francisco, and I wish we could have stayed longer! This was my first time at this location and I fell in love. The property is gorgeous and our room was so comfortable, with possibly the best view of the bay I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing. We took our toddler downstairs to the Tonga Room and he had a blast tearing up the dance floor. I am counting the days till our next visit!

Whatever you do, stay elsewhere. You can literally hear everything through connected rooms if you decide to stay at this hotel. I could hear our neighbors doing it for HOURS into the early morning. It sounded like a performance. Doesn’t help that it’s also noisy outside over any weddings happening in the ballroom. If you want to see the Fairmont just go into the lobby when you’re visiting the city. It is so NOT WORTH STAYING. The service is also slow and all around not that great, the internet (depending on the room) is also not that great. Seriously, seek other accommodations in the city.

Addendum: they moved us two times and eventually to a better room, which would’ve been great to have to begin with. If they have such a noise problem, they should address it prior to guests going in or sound proof existing rooms. If you’re staying due to work or a wedding, just letting you know it’s a convenient location but you may not get rest.

The Fairmont San Francisco is one of the best hotels on the planet! This magnificent, luxurious and historic palace of a hotel is located at the top of Nob Hill with all the iconic landmarks spread out around it.  If you crave true beauty, ambiance and world-class service...you want the Fairmont! This is where, presidents, royalty and rock stars stay.  Ask for help from managers Ashley Garcia and Noriel Torres...they are consummate and caring professionals.  Stop and get a picture with the legendary doorman William May, a shining ambassador for Fairmont and SF.  This is what luxury is supposed to look like...trust me!

The staff was very courteous and helpful.  My room was clean and comfortable.  I would stay here again and recommend the hotel to others.

Why 4 stars? A bit of room in the fridge for personal items would be nice.  It's stocked with items I didn't want and had no place to keep something I did want.  (It's good I don't have medication that needs to be refrigerated!) Also, because I was unsure of the area, I got my breakfast from the grab and go area set up for those attending the conference on the first morning.  Nothing tasted bad (except the coffee), but it wasn't a great breakfast, and it was WAY too expensive for what I got.  I never went back to that area for any meal because it was so overpriced.

I heard great things but tbh it’s been an average experience.

Cons:  Rooms have a smell... like this hotel is ancient, smell. Carpet in the room looks like it’s never been cleaned w/ stains all over it. Beds are old and uncomfortable. Linens are scratchy. Pillows are meh. Room service dining was Not Good, like eating at Dennys not good.  Walls/Doors are thin and poorly insulated bc I could hear everything, including drunk guests at midnight coming home on a Wednesday.  WiFi is CRAP and expensive. $34/day. I couldn’t take any video calls for work bc WiFi kept glitching.

Pros:  Hotel is beautiful and grand. Staff is very friendly and prompt. My room was quite large. TV has Bravo. Gummy bears in mini bar are delicious and there’s a decent assortment of treats/snacks. My room had a nice big window w/ a stunning view that let it plenty of natural light. The bathroom was large w/ marble floors, a big mirror, two sinks, and a bathtub. Closet was very large.

All in all, though, for a “4 star” hotel w a pretty High price tag I expected more.

Pretty bummed bc I was looking forward to staying here, but after a long day at work I want a delicious meal, in a cozy bed, w/ a good nights sleep.
