Situated in the Mount Nelson Hotel

There's many mixed reviews concerning this restaurant, however, it's been on my list to try for a while now as I thoroughly enjoy Asian cuisine, and I was convinced that we would have a fantastic dining experience as I wouldn't expect anything less coming from the Chefs Warehouse group.

We had booked an early dinner, mid week, straight after work. There were only two other couples when we arrived, but by 9 pm the restaurant was about half full. The space is really exotic! Great ambiance and decor, and the service was impeccable! Taras is the manager there (he used to work at The Bailey), and his knowledge about wines and the cuisine is highly commendable! I discovered a new white wine, which I have added to my list of all-time favorites!

We chose to order from the a la carte menu instead of the set menu. The food was so beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. Due to my sweet tooth, I'd probably say dessert was my favorite dish - but bar that, I'd highly recommend the Prawn toast and Duck Pancake. Will definitely be back to try the other options.

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was underwhelming and overpriced. The food was bland and did not live up to the high cost, especially when compared to other Asian restaurants in Cape Town like Silk, Bao Down, or Nikkei The biggest disappointment was the wine. We ordered wine by the glass and received a very sad, small pour at a steep price of R145 (see attached pictures). Despite our high hopes, I cannot recommend this place based on our visit.

Really underwhelming experience for me. There’s a lot of room for improvement.
The Chinese Flower bread served 1st was the the best dish of the night for me. The cauliflower was much too sweet, the oysters okay. The duck though, was a let down, lacking any authentic flavour, even tasted like smoked duck, which is unlike Peking duck, this was disappointing. Desserts were well priced and not bad.
Being part of the chefs warehouse group I expected a lot more than they delivered. I don’t think I will try this again.

Had a really great night trying the taster menu. One of us had the main taster and the other had the vegetarian taster. Both were really outstanding.

The cocktails were also really great with an authentic spin on some classics and the drinks list is extensive.

Our waiter was amazing, it was only his 3rd shift but he was attentive, accommodating and helpful.

We loved the atmosphere and decor - it feels very cool. It would be a great spot for a group dinner on one of the larger round tables.

Highly recommend.

A future champion with room for improvement. Amazing space, decor and ambiance.The food is beautifully presented. Loved the bread,the oysters, the grilled scallops, the ox tongue, the duck broth and the desserts. The dumplings pastry was too thick and stodgy and the Peking duck was fatty.
