I had previously come here for lunch and loved it. Staff were friendly, food was delicious and atmosphere fab. I came here for breakfast this morning and my experience left me never wanting to go back. I don't eat huge brekkies so I opted for the small breakfast. Before I could even finish my sentence when I was ordering the girl was walking away from the table and asking if I wanted tea or coffee as she was trying to escape. I asked if I could swap the bacon for black pudding. "Nope. No substitutes. It says so on the menu." as she points at the menu. Fair enough I thought and asked for the menu back. She didn't appear to want to give me the menu back and I was told I could add pudding though. I said fine. Do that. I just wanted black pudding with my breakfast. Again she was walking away as I was trying to talk. It was rushed. It was rude. I asked for my egg poached and for brown bread rather than toast. Breakfast came. Food was standard brekkie fare. Tasty enough. Tea was beyond weak and clearly a result of buying in cheap teabags. It wasn't drinkable. Even after sitting for 10 minutes there was no strength to it. I went to pay and was told it was €7. I queried this as the small breakfast is €5 and extra sausage is €1 so I would presume the pudding was the same. Then I was told it was €1 extra for a poached egg. What? Guess what she did? She pointed at the menu and says IT SAYS SO ON THE MENU!. I said well I didn't see that. The attitude was ridiculous. I handed over my money and got no thank you or any sort of oh sorry about that or whatever . I was blanked and she just started saying hello to someone walking into the shop. Rude. Rude. Rude. She should have told me that it would be extra for a poached egg. Just like she was more than capable of telling me that there was no substitutes. So my issues here. It DOES NOT say on the menu no substitutes. What it says is that substitutes may be extra. Don't point at the menu saying oh it says on the menu. Like I'm sorry did I just sign up to a 12 month contract with Virgin Media and I'm being caught out by the small print? I feel like I was almost required to agree to a terms and conditions before ordering my breakfast. Am I required as a customer to read every single detail on this menu before ordering? Like c'mon! I'm not sure if this person is an owner or a manager or just a regular staff member but if it's the latter then someone needs a word. If it's the former then cop yourself on. As an infrequent customer I felt out of place. She was greeting all the regulars and paying them much more attention. The most pleasant part of the dining experience was the girl who took away my plate. A different girl to the one who served me and took payment. Attitudes need to be rechecked with this individual. It's doubtful I will return.

Another place in D7. Thankfully, it's another great place! You could call it somewhat of a more old school cafe/diner. Zero 'hipster' influences. The menu is simple, kinda Irish and most importantly, very tasty. Actually, it's also great value for the portion sizes. Coffee is refilled as you enjoy your food, staff are very friendly and there are a tonne of interesting and kitsch items on all of the walls. Worth a visit if you're hungry, worth a visit if you're hungover and worth a visit full stop. Do it.

Cute little cafe with great food. Had a wait in line but honestly it wasn't a terrible wait. Great atmosphere and honestly best food of our whole trip. Everyone was very inviting and when I said "I'll have what ever you suggest" I was not disappointed. Everything was reasonably priced and fueled us for our long adventures of the day. If you want a great place to eat in Ireland I'd most definitely refer you to Cowtown Café.

Came across Cowtown by chance a while ago. Its a really pleasant little neighbourhood cafe where you can get everything from pancakes to a full Irish, and all at really reasonable prices. Anytime Ive popped in its always been busy and there seems to be a lot of regular customers, which as well as the hearty food, Im sure is down to the super friendly staff. The only thing I would mark it down on are the old school plastic diner chairs that can be a bit awkward to get in and out of, but thats not too big a deal really. Cowtown has a real community feel about it which always makes for a pleasant visit.

A new café in the neighbourhood? And so close to SLICE? I wonder what they'll do differently and what organic/paleo/hand roasted by nuns explanation is supposed to make me pay 4.50Euro for a cup of coffee. But no, none of that ...stuff. This is a lovely, American-style diner for ....well people. For locals. I mean local locals not blow-ins. There was the guy in a suit reading his paper, a tourist and his guide to Dublin, some school kids from across the road and a couple of OAPs having their breakfast that day. And then there was me; asking for the wifi code. Many different breakfast options (also lunch and dinner but I only had breakie here so far) and very reasonable, too. A small Irish for a fiver including bottomless coffee. Sure, it's not the best coffee you ever had but you could get tea instead and just sit and read or work on your blog or Christmas wish list or whatever and the lovely waitress and just walks past and refills your mug. I think this place is a great addition for the area, offering simple food to regular people. Think Central Perk and you are pretty close.

Yet another welcome addition to Stoneybatter. Cowtown has the feel of a real locals cafe, the couple of times I've been in here it has been very lively and full of families. The menu sounds like a greasy spoon cafe in parts, but offers hearty mains and salads. I got a one pot winter warmer which had sausages, potatoes and carrots in a lightly spiced tomato sauce. The flavors were great and and serving size pretty good, at just under €9 it was good value. I got a scoop of a luvely pistachio icecream to finish ;-) Apart from the fry and breakfast option, the main dishes seem to change from week to week. I'll definitely come back to try Cowtown, I'm thinking the fry options are pretty good with a hangover.

Excuse the badtardisation of a song but 'oh won't you take me to Cowtown'. A new enough cafe on Manor Street which I hope and believe will become a national treasure here, Cowtown cafe is simply perfect. If you are looking for a real authentic fish and chips, yummy sambo (sandwich) and tea, delicious salad and other 'real' home comfort type Irish and English grub, Cowtown is the prime place to go. Setting and ambience: The cafe has a really nice and simple diner style decor, with simple tables and fairly decent spacing between each. Table sizes range between two persons and four. You might be asked to share a table at busy hours which personally I have no issue with, but they don't get 'thick' with customers who prefer their own company and personal bubble. There's some 'funky' pieces of art work and talking pieces but nothing that desperately fosits "we're so cool right?!' about the art work and layout. It's very 'true to itself' and there's no bang of a desperate need to be thought of 'groundbreaking', 'surreal' etc attached to the place, so ye hung over folk don't need to worry about garish colours and patterns turning your tumny! The atmosphere changes depending on the time, at lunch it's busy and energetic but the (brilliant) staff keep up with all orders and you aren't waiting too long. After work hours it's more laid back, food still arriving promptly, and great for a catch up with a mate or two or three. The staff are a brilliant asset to the place, the two waitresses I encountered were friendly, genuine and easy going with a great sense of humour and great customer service (I think they have a 6th sense for which customers like a natter and which prefer to just order and be let be alone.) They are a lovely team and all the staff (from my inadvertent eavesdropping where I was sitting) are really nice and respectful to each other which is a rare thing in such a busy place, especially in the Dublin city area. Food: if you're Irish or English think of your childhood favourites, perfectly cooked fish and chips (including the nostalgic 'feck! These are a bit hot!' re the chips, but good things come to those who wait!), lovely jubbly fry's, homemade and feel good soups, extremely generously filled chicken stuffing mayo, BLTs, ham and cheese sandwiches that really remind me of my granddad's sandwiches and childhood picnics where one didn't worry about calories and that malarkey. For those who crave something a bit more unusual, their falafel burger is just fantastic, the flavours are unusual but really compliment each other and utterly scrumptious! I haven't tried their Caesar Salad but having seen it today, I definitely will! For the non Irish and UK folk reading this, all the above dishes are each unto themselves brilliant examples of the type of cuisine the Irish and the English have to offer (they do coddle! Try coddle! Think stew but with sausages instead of beef, HEAVEN!), you won't be disappointed. Seriously, I cannot recommend this place enough, it suits all types that just want a good meal without the obsession of instragramming every forkful. It's genuine, generous and generally great. 5 stars! (If you need me to complain about anything, the only only thing is that there's one bathroom per gender but seriously, if that's the only criticism I can find when casting my mind back, I really think this just goes to show how fantastic this place is). Long live Cowtown!

Nice local place. Great spot for a fry up and they do lovely pudding! I really like the casual atmosphere and feel of a greasy spoon...without the grease! If you want a decent fry up in Stoneybatter, this is the place.

An antidote to the yuppie brunch culture. Nothing but old school fry ups, French toast and bacon and cabbage. Food your mammy would be proud of. Was here for breakfast so can't comment on the dinner menu. Great French toast, a little too heavy on the salt though. Great portion sizes. Really good coffee too. Perfect spot for after a heavy night.

Dropped by Cowtown Café last week on what was formerly Seven and then Cucina on the corner of Manor St and Manor Place. It's a nice little spot with attentive waiting staff, newspapers, large windows and, the holy grail, chip sandwiches! To boot, it's very reasonably priced - I hope this will last as it makes it an excellent alternative to some nearby rather overpriced venues.
