The first time I dined in with a small group, I had a great meal. When looking for a place to host a company dinner of 20, I came back for the private room upstairs. The manager we coordinated with was very communicative.

The night of the event, the service was exceptional. The space was comfortable with a private bar. The drinks were great, and the food was amazing.

Highly recommend for a great overall experience!

One word to describe this place - Phenomenal! Ambiance, service and food were fantastic. Several unique dishes I would never think to order but it was prepared wonderfully. My favourite being the dates stuffed in sausage - the flavours were out of this world. Focaccia bread was another winner.

Food: The food here is always really good!! I usually go with a group of friends because it’s definitely a place you’ll want to do tapas. I’m pescatarian, and there’s not too many choices for me, but what I do try is pretty stellar. The tomato’s are AMAZING.

Service: The staff is always super nice and friendly. They’ll really help with the menu choices.

Seating: the outdoor patio is my favorite place to sit. The inside gets a little loud, but still a fun ambiance.

I had heard so many good things about this place!! And it totally lived up to the hype. The restaurant is striking in appearance with a long rectangular and narrow shape with a long bar on one side and row of tables on the other.

For two people, they recommended 2 small dishes and 1 large dish. Sontra took our order and was so sweet and helpful, she could tell we wanted to try more things and so asked for 1/2 orders of certain dishes so we could have more!

The medjool dates were a standout with a beautiful tomato sauce, and nice rich chorizo inside. This is a must if you come here.

The kale hummus was so unique and full of amazing textures, also a must!!! It was covered in crispy crunchy fried shallots, and the cubes of cheese on top were soft and were not too tangy (they were a perfect complement). The pita and bread were fantastic for soaking up all the extra sauce.

The cabbage came with a beautiful dill sauce, it could have been softer or more cooked through but the flavor was delicious.

The pork shoulder was unreal, super soft and moist, falling apart. The saffron orzo was such a beautiful flavor I could not get enough of, and with the greens on top added that freshness and lightness to the dish. Flavors went amazing together. The clams were a really nice addition that seemed natural paired with it.

We were too full for dessert and couldn’t finish everything! So Sontra boxed it up for us and even included two small bites of brownie as a treat. We were so thankful!

The other patrons were raving about the food and it was bustling!! I would recommend this spot to a group of 6 to be able to sample more dishes and not get too full. Additionally, the table seating was more amenable to larger groups. The bar makes sense for 2 people so good spot for dates as well. Somewhat tight quarters inside and you do have to squeeze in the walkway so maybe not ideal for anyone claustrophobic or with mobility issues!

All in all I will be recommending the place to as many people as possible, fabulous!

When I asked 3 Chicagoan friends where I should eat in Chicago, the only place they all recommended was avec. The menu didn't immediately captivate me, but when I saw someone posted a photo and rave review of the focaccia online, I decided I had to try it out for myself. I wish that I could give more than five stars because honestly this was one of the best meals I've had in a long time.

We started out with a couple of brunch cocktails. I got the Eclipse, which is a passion fruit mezcal cocktail. The fruity, sweet, and alcohol flavors were very well balanced -- this was one of the best cocktails I've had in a while.

We then got a half order of the dates with chorizo and bacon which was $12 for two. They are quite big and look like meatballs. The dates had good flavors and textures, but I would say that everything else I got was better than this.

We then got the focaccia with a smoked salmon add-on (+$12) and oh my gosh this was the best thing ever. It's huge and magnificent and it just melted in my mouth. It's the perfect balance of a very light truffle flavor and flaky buttery layers. I don't even know what this is or how you can make such a thing, but it was just mind-blowing. I don't usually like heavy things but it was so easy for me to keep downing more and more pieces of this thing. The smoked salmon and fresh herbs paired perfectly with the focaccia (it wasn't too salty, which I appreciated). This was such a magnificent dish and was incredibly filling -- by the time we were halfway through the focaccia we were already feeling quite full but alas we had already ordered another dish.

We finally got the pizza with potato and guanciale. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. Every element was masterfully Incorporated and melted together. It's like the perfect breakfast pizza. The egg almost looked and felt like a cheese but it was had a perfectly runny yolk in the middle and just laid perfectly on the bread. The salsa verde added freshness and flavor and that the guanciale was hiding in there but added the savory flavor. The potatoes added some textual contrast and soaked up the flavors and the bread was so chewy and delightful. Even though I was impossibly full I had to eat everything down to the crusts.

In conclusion, I think we would have been fine just getting one focaccia and an appetizer for 2 people. We ended up spending around $120 before tip for two people which included the drinks.

This was the best brunch I've ever had in my life. I would absolutely come back to Chicago just to visit avec. The service was great -- the servers gave great recommendations and checked on us quite often (we were seated at the counter). The seating options were communal table seating or bar seating, which maximizes the use of their small space. It was a really lovely experience and I am dreaming of my next visit.

Detta resulterade i att den ”lätta” änden av bordet serverade sig själva små portioner för att inte ”rengöra” tallriken. Det var jättepinsamt att berätta för affärsbekanta tre meter bort att de hade all mat så ingen hade det. Den enda räddande nåden var att maten var väldigt genomsnittlig och jag går på diet. De drack inte kaffe den kvällen. Om jag behöver cool service stannar jag kvar på flygplatsen längre.

Perfekt plats för en veckonatt - middag och en show downtown. Fyllda datum var mycket bra, som annonseras. Men sötpotatisen med jalapeno, och korta revben med sumak, var båda galet goda. Nästa gång kommer vi att spara tillräckligt med utrymme för dessert.

Jag har inte varit i Avec på evigheter! Det går fortfarande starkt, och fortfarande upptagen, och inte alltför gynnsamt för affärsmåltider. Alltför trångt på ett litet utrymme. Servicen var ganska vänlig och glad, samt kunnig. . Vi åt social/business lunch, och njöt av det. Prix fixe kostnaden var ganska rimligt också. Tja, det är inte riktigt 5-stjärnig upplevelse. Maten glänste inte, så att säga. Det imponerade inte tillräckligt på mig. Möjligen hade det att göra med min specifika beställning: chorizofyllda dadlar, och vitfisktartiner. Jag borde ha beställt lamm. Hur som helst, för att sammanfatta, fortfarande värt att besöka, men kunde vara bättre.

Avec hänvisades till oss genom en vän till min fru. Eftersom det var starkt rekommenderat bestämde vi oss för att äta lunch. I allmänhet maten var mycket bra... ! TILLS... Jag såg laxbiten som jag beställer med salladen bokstavligen stor som 3 st sida vid sida och den kostade $14. 00 . 

Så mitt råd är att inte beställa laxen till någon av dina rätter... du kommer att få en hjärtattack... För att inte tala om kostnaden.

Besökte en middag innan operakvällen. Blev sittande ganska snabbt i baren. Platsen var trångt, inte på ett mysigt sätt dock. Jag fick två menyer framför, gjorde mina val snabbt och gav servitören 5 minuter att titta till mig. Hon bara stod och torkade av dricksglas hela tiden. Jag bestämde mig för att ge henne en liten våg för att få uppmärksamhet, och efter 5 vänliga vågor och hon stirrar rakt på mig och fortsätter torka glas bestämde jag mig för att det här stället inte är för mig. Jag vet att det är en ganska slumpmässig reaktion, men jag tror att det här stället är för hypat. Betsalladen jag planerade att beställa såg ganska attraktiv ut, men återigen om jag är redo att betala $ 28 för en sallad skulle jag förvänta mig att servicefolket är lite mer uppmärksam.

avec beskriver sig själv som en mellanvästern ta på Medelhavet klassiker och jag antar att det är en bra beskrivning. Var annars kan du få Medjool datum fyllda med chorizo? Och den goda tjocka saftiga hälleflundrafilén var god med pistagenötter, oliver och jalapeños. Men desserten, bränd honung profiteroles, var enastående! En vacker miljö, långsmala rum med alla blonda trä var perfekt och personalen och servitörer var perfekt också. En fantastisk kväll på en fantastisk restaurang.

Vårt plan anlände till Chicago sent och jag var omedveten om hur långt vårt hotell var från flygplatsen och vi hade en tidig middag reservation på AVEC – på att ringa de var tillmötesgående för att skjuta bokningen tillbaka men bara cirka en halvtimme - efter att ha kontrollerat med vår concierge om huruvida vi var klädda på lämpligt sätt och vara säker på att vi var – vi tog en åktur andel till restaurangen; vi möttes och satt omedelbart på utsidan uteplatsen av en vänlig server som var relativt ny i restaurangen och han rekommenderade att vi prova chorizo - fyllda medjool datum med bacon och piquillopeppar - tomatsås (halv portion) vi var motvilliga – och nu så glad att vi accepterade rekommendationen – utsökt! - min dotter och jag älskar små tallrikar att dela; vi beställde vilda mexikanska räkor med rosenbladshatta, körsbärstomater och härdad pita, spansk makrill med oliver, pistasch och jalapeno, och rökt lax med pasha valnötter och tahini det fanns inga besvikelser – även sorbet och gelato öknen var en passande slutsats till en utmärkt matupplevelse. 
 Jag har sagt att vi bedömer vår middag efter om vi lämnar prata om måltiden – vi pratar fortfarande om denna måltid 

Rekommenderar starkt

Jag är vanligtvis ganska bra på alla detaljer i mina resor , men på denna korta resa var jag lite förvånad över avståndet till flygplatsen från det centralt belägna hotellet; så jag var orolig efter en försenad ankomst att min dotter och jag kanske inte kan göra vår tidiga middag reservation - ett samtal till restaurangen gav oss lite förlängning men inte mycket, och vi visste inte om vi skulle vara klädd på lämpligt sätt men vår concierge försäkrade oss att vi var och vi släppte väskor och lyfte - tack och lov gjorde vi eftersom detta är en restaurang inte att missa. 
Vi tog en uteservering (försiktigt av solen, alla är inte skuggade). Vi njuter av små tallrikar att dela och accepterade försiktigt serverns rekommendation om en halv portion av signaturdatum med bacon och piquillopeppar - tomatsås - wow! Älskade det - följt av de Grillade räkorna, den spanska makrillen och rökt laxhummus och avslutade med den stickiga päron- & mangosorbeten och pepparkakskaramellvirveln – inget besviken. Personalen var personlig, uppmärksam och hjälpsam, atmosfären avkopplande efter en kort men stressig resa. Jag rekommenderar starkt denna restaurang och önskar att det fanns en i närheten av mitt hem. Snälla, gå!

Först, maten och servrarna var fantastisk! Vår server rekommenderade ett riktigt smakrikt apelsinvin som passade bra ihop med våra fyllda dadlar — så gott! — focaccia — lätt, krispigt och extra gott med lite honung — sparrissallad — den mest smakrika och läckra sallad jag kan minnas att jag åt — och kort revbenshummus — vilken fantastisk kombination! Lite för det andra är restaurangen liten, lång och smal. Även snyggt inredda, är det obekvämt. Sittplatser finns vid flera gemensamma bord med en bänk på ena sidan och korta pallar på den andra. Bakom pallsidan rusar beskyddare och servrar bakom, vilket är oroande. Vi var armbåge till armbåge med våra grannar, vilket var bra men pinsamt. Tur att ingen behövde gå på toaletten och att vi åt klart ungefär samtidigt för att undvika en sits - shuffle situation. Närheten till matgästerna gjorde att det nästan inte fanns någon chans till samtal. Folk pratade i högsta hugg för att bli hörda i restaurangbråket. Jag går till biergartens och vingårdar med gemensamma bord hela tiden och njuter av kamratskapet att dela en bra tid med nya människor, men Avecs vibe är bara obekväm. Så det är en 5 för mat och service och en för atmosfär för mig.

Bra mat. Fantastisk atmosfär. Var henne för 5 år sedan och det är fortfarande mycket bra. Dela rätter och bord. Utmärkt vin. Kommer igen om möjligt.

Hade lunch. Tjänsten var stor, dekor verklig söt, men liten; och ställa in för gruppmat.
Vi hade 3 rätter och alla gillade vad de beställde.
Rekommenderar starkt för lunch, skulle inte åka dit för middag baserat på layout.
