I came here with some friend a couple of weeks after the grand opening and we were pleasantly surprised. I am not a fan of Maison Marcel because their service is typically rubbish, so I came in with low expectations and they were generally exceeded.

Overall, the food was very good. The butter with the bread was quite delicious, the salad was fresh and tasty and the steak was very well cooked. The downsides of the meal were that of the three meals we ordered, two arrived together and one was probably a good 5-7 minutes later than the other two. The other comment I will make is that the fries are not frites. They are very clearly out of a bag, not freshly cut and were not remotely seasoned. If I’m ordering steak frites, I’m expecting thick fries, not thick burger fries.

Our server was fantastic! She was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and just the right amount of attentive.

The decor and ambiance are also delightful. There is a small bar as you walk in where they have a live piano player and on the other side is a more traditional dining room. I would suggest the dining room as the bar area is quite cramped.

(Not affecting my review, I heard from a friend who went that they had a horrible experience during happy hour at the bar. There were issues around ordering food, the service was “abysmal” and they were overcharged. So just a heads up that they are still likely working through some staffing issues being a new restaurant).

So glad that we decided to try Le Petit Marcel! The location used to be a sports bar with great burgers and beer, so to see it be transformed into a beautiful French Brasserie is quite an accomplishment. We were drawn in from outside by the piano being played inside. The front room has an ornate bar with decorative lamps and on the other side of the room, two and four person tables covered in white tablecloths.

The food was excellent. We had the French Onion Soup, Caesar Salad, and the Poulet Paillard (Seared Chicken Breast). They also have a nice selection of cocktails and beers to enjoy. I hope to come back soon to enjoy more of their menu.

I was SO excited to try this place out. I’ve been waiting for them to open since the announcement. We made a same day reservation which was nice in the Piano Lounge. Place was packed at 4:30 for happy hour which was welcoming. Environment was great but the music was a tad loud. Needless to say we were still really excited. Drinks came out and were absolutely incredible. We got the Gimlet, French 75, and Espresso Martini (best I’ve ever had). We got appetizers when the kitchen opened at 5:30 which included bread service, deviled eggs (Oeuf Mimosa), and the French Onion Soup. The butter for the bread was a great combination of paprika, chives and a few other ingredients. The french onion soup and deviled eggs were presented well and had good taste. And then, our entrees arrived… I think disappointment is a complete understatement. The steak was overcooked, very small compared to other Steak Frites I’ve had, precut (which was odd, no steak knife but pieces were still too big), and the fries had no sauce to dip? No aioli, no ketchup, nothing. I asked for an aioli if they had it, nothing ever arrived. My partner got the Petit Cheeseburger and was also disappointed in the flavor. It was so devastating because everything up to that point was nearly perfect. Service, bar, and appetizers were worth every dime. Entrees are to be skipped until the menu is new or they make a lot of adjustments.

We will definitely return but will not likely order the entrees for a couple of months while the kitchen figures it out. Some of our friends went the other day as well and had a very similar experience. I’m excited for the addition of this restaurant to lakeview, but for $30-50 entree prices, they have a long ways to go.

Beautiful space, loved that there was live piano performance when we arrived. I’d recommend for a date night. We ordered the fries, could’ve tasted better but I did like that they came with a basil sauce.

We loved the ambiance of this gorgeous French cuisine . The staff was warm and attentive. The dim, ambient lighting created the perfect setting for a cozy, intimate evening. Excellent meals and cocktails. Beautifully decorated. Highly recommend! Great for a special night!

Stämningen är trevlig och personalen är mycket bra. “Escargot” serverades inte i skalet utan i små bitar. Tarte Tatin var ett bakat äpple i en tunn skiva av lager bakverk, inte särskilt tilltalande visuellt eller textmässigt. Steak aux frites var bra. Ganska parcimonisk med såsen. Ingen majonnäs till pommes fritesen (quelle horreur pour Les Belges. ). Den snälla servitrisen tog med lite aioli. Priset var dock mycket Franska.

Det finns så få trevliga restauranger i East Lakeview, men detta är en av dem. IT är ganska nytt men fungerar riktigt fint. Menyn var kreativ Franska och maten var utsökt. Personalen var mycket vänlig och servicen var utmärkt. Borden var rimligt fördelade för att möjliggöra enkel konversation. Detta är en av de få platser i East Lakeview som jag skulle ta sällskap för en trevlig måltid.
