It’s been a while since I’ve eaten here and Chef Kang truly deserves his Michelin star which he has had for 10 years. Right from the start his signature soon hock fish soup put us in the path to delicious dinner ahead. Then followed by the best sweet and sour pork, fatty top of the line patin fish from Sabah and then the golden crispy suckling pig with glutinous rice. Full and satisfying dinner. ❤️❤️❤️

Will miss this place when it's closed in October this year. The crab rice is the highlight - it's better than some Japanese claypot rice in the way the crab flavour gets into the rice. Chef Kang has come a long way. Opened a large restaurant back in Joo Chiat, got hit by the financial crisis of 2009 then came back with a small but successful eatery that was recognised with a Michelin Star later. Hope he gets restless in retirement and starts up a new place too. Meanwhile, there's the excellent Chef Kang wantan mee in Toa Payoh.

5 Stars for this restaurant.. Although they are a Michelin 1 Star restaurant for consecutive years.

Managed to get a table after booking for very long. They are so popular and is always full house. You can't walk in too.

The dishes are Cantonese style and the wok hei is fantastic!

The restaurant only has 3 private dining rooms.  That is why it is very difficult to book a table.

The staff are very prompt and friendly.

Chef kang is very friendly too and joined us for drinks and photos.

Price is on the high side but it's worth the quality of the dishes.

Our last 2 Michelin star restaurants to try. I gave it 3 stars because eventhough the food is good, it wasn't exceptional. I don't give 4-5 star easily unless they really deserve it in terms of quality of ingredients, food quality overall, atmosphere, and service.

Chef: He came to greet us and was very personable. He's a great and humble person when you speak to him. He recommended a few dishes to us and he cooks the dishes himself.

Food: I ordered the Soon Hock soup and it was really good as well as the bee hoon. The prawn paste pork belly was a let down. To me it was a bit overcooked with a bit of a burnt taste. The dessert is good but pretty normal. Would I go back again? Yes, to try other dishes to see if I would change my view.

The dinner was sublime..!! I feel the iconic dishes were the fish soup and crab with glutinous rice, definitely mut try.
Fish soup is light but flavourful,  crab taste very fresh and sweet, glutinous rice is fragrant  and tasty with the minced garlic.
the only slight dissapointment is crab and glutinous rice didnt really blend together but they still taste good when you eat them on its own.
Home made tofu is really soft and gently melt in your mouth. It feels like it's a soft blanket (on the outside) gently tucked with beancurd on in inside.

Har cheong kai (prawn paste chicken) - common dish that can be found af 99% of the zi char resturant/stalls in Singapore. The skin was light and yet very crispy, prawn paste taste is not overpowering and just right. Chicken meat is plump and served piping hot.  The chef has put in effort to make a common dish to shine.

Char siew - taste great! Do note it has slight fatty parts and abit of soft bones in some of the pieces.

Bee hoon- stock was superior, ingredient chopped prawn and scallop were fresh but other dishes outshine it.

Price was on the highend side but its worth trying out. Will be back again!
