My family took me to this fabulous restaurant at the weekend as a surprise for my 60th. And what an amazing evening it was.
From the Roadside it looked nothing special but as I walked in, I was overwhelmed. The staff who looked after us were both simply wonderful. We had the taster menu and it was simply outstanding. Absolutely everything on the menu tasted sublime and was a feast for the eye!
Really good choice of wines too & our hosts were very knowledgeable and able to accurately assist us in our choices to complement the food.
Overall  we had a fabulous evening and I will not forget the evening for a long, long time

I will try to make this quick but it won't be easy.
We are spoiled for choice locally for fine dining. So these guys have their work cut out for them but they have absolutely smashed it out of the park!! As far as I am aware this is a relatively new restaurant but everyone is talking about it and for good reason. We've tried for weeks to book a table but struggled to get a reservation. We managed to claim a cancellation on our wedding anniversary. Whether this was actually a cancellation or kind gesture of an early-open table I'm not sure but we took it and it didn't disappoint.
Three words I would use to describe 'Where there's smoke' are Exclusive, Exquisite and Personal. From what we could gather there seemed to be only 3 members of staff, a manager, very friendly, warm welcoming and presented each course with an introduction. A young waitress, equally as friendly, who took turns presenting each course and couldn't do enough for us.. and seemed to know just what we wanted before we'd asked. And the chef, who we didn't get to meet but when trying to book I caught on the phone advised me he would have his manager call me. His food speaks volumes of his attention to detail and culinary perfection!!
We hadn't seen the menu or pricing before we arrived, it was a set menu of 5 courses with a selection of treats from the chef served with sourdough. Considering the local competition, exclusivity and excellence of the experience we expected this to be in the region of £100 - £200 pp (or should be) needless to say it was somewhat under this.
5 star doesn't seem enough for our experience. Thank you so much and look forward to visiting again.

Michelin stared foods at this lovely little restaurant in Masham.

What a great experience - each dish was superb, well presented, with great attention to detail and wonderful flavours.

The staff were very knowledgeable about the dishes and the restaurant is a really nice place to dine.

If you're visiting Masham then WtS should be on your list of things to do.  Enjoy the tours at the Theaskstons and Black Sheep breweries and round off the evening with some fine dining.

Our thanks to manager John for making us feel welcome and for a lovely experience.

Highly recommended and we're looking forward to returning soon.

What an amazing dinner for our anniversary!

We were made to feel SO special - it's such an intimate space with beautiful lighting and tasteful music and the little touches were perfect (a lovely card waiting for us on our table for our anniversary).

I am gluten and dairy intolerant and I arguably had a better experience than my partner (the smoked emulsion that came with my bread was divine!). I booked well in advance and was fully catered too, it was fantastic.

It really was an experience spread out over several hours as opposed to just a multi-course meal. My partner loved that he got his own loaf of bread and both of us adored the tuna. Would come back in a heartbeat and will be bringing more family for special occasions!

We had an excellent meal here. The food was wonderful - excellent range of flavours that were really well balanced throughout each course. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and has a lovely atmosphere. The chef clearly knows how to cook exceptionally well. If I had one suggestion for an improvement it would be the name. It suggests something serving lots of grilled or flame cooked food whereas this is high-quality fine dining with little evidence of 'smoke'. It really doesn't do justice to the great experience you get at the restaurant.
