Just down the street where we stay. No wait, time to sit. Once we placed our order, our food was served fresh and hot. We ordered the sopa de pollo, and it was flavorful.  The paquete bistek was tender and delicious. The tamale oak was big and delicious. The servers were awesome, friendly, fast, and efficient. Good place to eat.

We got Rojo Chilaquiles Grantinados, Tacos Dorados de Papa, and chicken Enfrijoladas.  That green salsa was amazing! The pico de gallo was fresh, but lacked spice and tang.  Honestly, it wasn't very authentic Mexican food; everything was pretty bland.

This is a very nice place to visit if you need good coffee and/or a light meal.

We ordered Café con leche, americano and 2 pieces of pastries with custard cream...

As we were there a local singer sang live, which added to the good atmosphere and we had a very good time...

I will highly recommend this café for its coffee and the pastries..

We loved this place and came twice in our stay in the city, should have been more but we wasted a breakfast trying somewhere less good. As our first time travelling a Spanish speaking country we weren't sure what to expect when practising our ordering however the wait staff were so patient (and forgiving of our bad pronunciation!) they have a menu available in English but the staff are far from fluent(why should they be?!) The food was amazing each visit and the cafe con leche was delivered in a way you could choose your amount of coffee before the warm milk is added. Superb value for money and delicious refried beans! If you're looking for breakfast in the historic centre this place should be on your list. A no frills diner style vibe full of locals and half the price of some nearby eateries. Check out their packages/ meal deals for a two course breakfast and drink for under $150 per person!

This is a no frills, longstanding Centro Historico diner that doesn’t pretend to be anything but a quick, casual and fairly priced place for a solid meal. We really enjoyed our breakfast of Toluqueño eggs with chorizo under a mildly spiced red chile tomato sauce, and thought the tamales with green chile chicken and red chile pork were also good. The cafe con leche was delicious too.

Inte märkvärdigt, vi skulle kalla det en diner i USA, de serverar ett brett utbud av enkla rätter, alla mycket väl - tillagade, med låga priser. Servicen är supersnabb och vänlig. Engelska meny tillgänglig. Ingen anledning att gå någon annanstans om du vill ha en god enkel måltid.

Trevlig lågprisrestaurang. Bättre än de flesta "hål i väggen" restauranger i närheten. Endast kontanter och begränsad engelsk förståelse, men vi lyckades beställa och betala utan problem

Denna restaurang var öppen på juldagen. Det var packat, men servicen var snabb och personalen var mycket uppmärksam. Maten var bra och priset var rimligt. Endast kontanter, så vitt vi vet.

Love El Populärt! Jag går dit ofta, för frukost/brunch/middag. Det är öppet 24 timmar om dygnet, budgetvänligt, alltid upptagen, mycket opretentiös, stor atmosfär. En verklig möjlighet att vara borta från turistiska restauranger i Centro Historico.

Tog en punt på detta café i huvudsak som det var upptagen med lokalbefolkningen snarare än turister. Menyn finns på engelska, utmärkta val för att täcka alla smaker. Mycket prisvärd och god mat. Jag skulle rekommendera detta café.

Inte den mest avancerade restaurangen men den fyller sin funktion. Här kan man få sig en enklare lunch.

Vår Uber-förare uppmuntrade oss att gå till denna plats för kloster. Vi gjorde det såväl som att ha två måltider här. Maten är äkta. Bra värde. Kakor och pasteries var mycket trevliga.

Tyvärr kan jag inte rekommendera El Popular. Maten var glänsande, men genomförbar för att stoppa hunger, men problemet var tjänsten; Vi strävar efter att vara mycket respektfulla, så vänligen förstår inte att denna recension kommer från ett par fula turister; ändå, vilken sorglig tjänst; som att ignorera en begäran om engelskspråkig meny även när vi fick frågan om vi ville ha en och vi sa ja; Jag var tvungen att gå till kassören efter inte mindre än 10 minuter; det var troligt att servern inte gillade klippningen av vår jib; detta är den enda slutsatsen - - i. e. , det var lite av ett sorgligt ögonblick att se första hand att två bord (satt efter oss och att ha tagit order efter oss) fick både sina drinkar och måltider före oss; inte bara lite utan de var i mitten när vi slutligen fick våra drinkar och gjort när min make fick sin måltid; det måste ha varit en riktigt dålig dag för vår server, men inte så illa att hon såg till att påpeka platsen på räkningen för hennes tips; Jag tippade 10% vilket är en sällsynthet för mig (jag tippar konsekvent 30 till 50% i CDMX till alla i servicebranschen eftersom de uppenbarligen arbetar mycket hårt för det lilla de betalas också med tanke på att kostnaden för de flesta måltider och tjänster är mycket väldigt låg) . Maten var genomsnittlig och rekommenderas inte.

Jag gick till El Popular till frukost. Mycket trevlig personal, snabb service. Maten var mycket bra och en huuuge caf con leche och pan de muerto skulle vara tillräckligt för frukost ensam, men det finns många andra söta och smakfulla alternativ och ange frukostmenyer att välja mellan. Massor av lokalbefolkningen så det känns autentiskt och inte turistiskt.

Meny 104 plus dryck (ingår inte). Maten är ok men inget särskilt. Tjänsten är mycket snabb men du äter bråttom eftersom de fortsätter att sätta rätter på bordet.

Denna plats är som en nordamerikansk matsal. De slyngar mexikansk hasj och det är bra och det är billigt. Ett nonsensställe där du plockar ner dig själv och berättar vad du vill och inom några minuter har de det på bordet. Fina middagar är det inte. Men det fyller och det är giltigt. Den surpuss servitrisen kommer inte att ta några guff. Ja, de har engelska menyer, men det är bäst om du får en spansk meny såväl som praktiskt taget ingen engelska talas och du kan behöva hänvisa till den spanska menyn för att förstås. Vår genomsnittliga servitris - som var vem mot alla, såg vi - nästan kysste oss när hon såg att vi lämnade en tio procent tips. Uppenbarligen är det inte normen i denna typ av fog. Om du vill ha god mat till bra priser i källaren och säkert men mycket snabb service, är detta din plats! Ta med och använd vad spanska du har, eftersom du kommer att behöva det! Sammantaget var det en rolig upplevelse och vi åt bra. Och vi hade det bra. Och ja, de har mexikansk öl.

Cafe El Popular är en bra plats för en måltid eller bara kaffe och ett bakverk. Detta är inte en elegant restaurang med tygdukar, men en mindre "Mom & Pop" typ plats med typisk mexikansk mat. Jag är inte säker på timmarna, men det är öppet sent. Jag äter alltid här minst en när jag besöker eftersom det är tvärs över gatan från mitt favorithotell. Tjänsten är långsam ibland om caféet är upptagen. Ofta levande musiker sylt ut i fornt på bänkarna.

El Populär brukade vara mer populär. Nu finns det dussintals billiga restauranger - kedjan restauranger - som serverar samma mat, men gör det billigare och åtminstone lika bra i nyare, renare omgivningar. Tjänsten på alla dessa platser är av hunger. De tar med maten (om du har tur). Populär kan ha den värsta servicen. De - som alla andra - gör en löjligt billig 4-rätters lunch: det är vad folk vill ha. Det är "populärt!" Den vattensoppa, den kalla spagetti, det "spanska" riset som inte är någonting, Milanesa eller kanske den tuffa biffen eller ett kycklingbröst beredd med någon mycket intressant mexicansk sås eller Cordon Blue och den ökända "gelatina" som är tapeter pasta smakad med konserverad ananas. Kaffe, någon?

Detta är ett upptagen litet lokalt café, jag tänker till lunch och frukost särskilt. Vi hade alla en cafe con leche, tamales rojo con cerdo och delade ett äppelstrudel. Tamales var riktigt bra, liksom apple strudel. Kaffe var anständigt, och den vänliga servitrisen toppade det ofta för oss. På den noten var all personal mycket vänlig. Jag tror att jag såg café de olla på menyn, men det var inte tillgängligt vid den tiden (vi var där på vintern, när de flesta platser erbjuder det). Bra service och ett bra ställe att gå om du vill ha en mexikansk stil frukost.
