The air was thick with humidity, the kind that clings to your skin and suggests something is growing unseen. Adding to the sense of exposure was a flimsy glass door, as if privacy were an afterthought rather than a given.

Faced with conditions that would make even the most budget-conscious traveler think twice, I raised my concerns with the front desk. To their credit, they offered to cancel my stay and even directed me to an alternative hotel. This, I initially thought, was an act of goodwill—until my credit card was charged in full. When I followed up, I was met with a smokescreen of excuses: the room was “non-refundable,” and my brief, horrified glimpse inside apparently counted as a “check-in.”

This is not hospitality; this is a bait-and-switch operation dressed up in the language of policy enforcement. A hotel that acknowledges its own inadequacies, suggests alternatives, yet still charges a guest for a service they explicitly rejected, is not running an honest business—it’s running a scam.

Travelers, consider yourselves warned. If you value integrity, transparency, and basic livability, avoid this establishment at all costs. And if management insists on keeping my payment, they should consider using it to invest in dehumidifiers, proper doors, and perhaps a refresher course on what it truly means to host.

Great place for a young couple to stay. Julio was very helpful at the front desk. There are plenty of restaurants around on 5 min walk. I felt very safe in the neighborhood. A little noisy in the morning due to bird chirping but I loved it.

Hidden gem and a quiet oasis. We had an amazing stay!  Check in was extremely smooth, breakfast was wonderful, and both the courtyard and terrace were lovely.  Would love to stay here again in the future.

This is definitely a hidden gem in CDMX. Perfect location, super cozy, and not a lot of noise from roads. Have stayed here twice so far and both times have been nothing but amazing. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing stay at Casa Emilia. It was both cozy and luxurious.  The rooms were comfortable and more spacious than they looked online.

Check in was super easy - we just rang the bell/button near the front camera and the staff answered right away, and we were welcomed with a drink when we arrived. The service was incredible and intentional - every time we returned to the hotel, there was staff in the kitchen area to help us with anything we needed. Additionally, we had endless refills of fresh, filtered water.

The breakfasts were amazing - fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, coffee, and a fresh cooked entree of your choice - and included in the price of the hotel. The upstairs terrace was quite and cozy, and we enjoyed a bottle of wine with the fire going one evening.

The location is amazing as it's both close to many great bars, restaurants, and coffee shops and on a quiet side street. We would stay here any time we found ourselves Mexico City!
