4.5 stars. I went here with my friend and we sat at the bar (we got lucky, as we did not make a reservation). The service here was wonderful. Everyone -- the host, our bartender, the servers -- was welcoming, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable of the menu. The martinis and our bottle of orange wine were delicious. The food was very good; every dish, including dessert, was full of flavor. My favorites were the Steak Tartar, Gnocchi, Maple cake and Chocolate Mousse.

Docking a point for portions compared to the price of the tasting menu. There just wasn't enough food for the cost. One more additional menu option would have been great.

We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and chose this restaurant because it has a Michelin star.

Once we were seated at our table and received the menu and water, the waiter surprised us with an anniversary card and complimentary champagne, which I thought was very thoughtful.

We loved the bread and butter, especially the butter, which had a delightful garlicky flavor.

For our first course, we had:

Shima Aji Crudo: I’m not usually a fan of Aji in sushi or sashimi, but I really enjoyed it. The celery dashi and wasabi-lime vinaigrette masked any fishy flavor or smell.

Steak Tartare: My husband ordered this, and I tasted a bit. It wasn't particularly meaty but was nicely blended with papaya.

For our second course, we tried:

Roasted Mushrooms:The harissa added a nice kick, and I loved it.
Shrimp Toast:This was the highlight of the menu for me; the lemongrass aioli paired perfectly with the shrimp toast.

For our third course, we had:

Braised Short Rib: The short rib was incredibly tender and melted in my mouth. My husband loved the congee that accompanied it.
**Striped Bass:** This dish was also good, especially the sauce, which complemented the striped bass nicely.

For dessert, we enjoyed:

Chocolate Mousse: I loved the chocolate mousse, except for the addition of nori. The seaweed flavor clashed with the chocolate, and I didn’t like it at all.

I really enjoyed the food and the friendly service; it felt like I was dining in someone's living room.

I highly recommend this place.

First, the service is off the charts good. They're constantly swapping out utensils and plates for each course. Water is refreshed before you hit 50%.  The restaurant itself is intimate and could be on the cusp of tight side.

Each course was excellent, imaginative and clearly Asian influenced. If you've frequented an array of pan Asian restaurants or even the countries themselves, you'll recognize components. The only miss on this night was the chicken dish - and the short rib was a little dry - but the accompanying  accoutrements nearly made up for it. The desserts were outstanding - high praise for the pastry chef!

One of the top restaurants in DC. We sat at the bar and received exceptional food and service. I let the bartender make me his take on an espresso martini since they don’t carry espresso, and it was perhaps the greatest cocktail I’ve ever tried. It was a great, cozy place to go for a special occasion.

Jag hade den här restaurangen på min radar ett tag, så jag hade stora förhoppningar när vi äntligen gjorde det. Vi kom tidigt på kvällen, så mycket av personalen hade fortfarande tid att bra oss med ett leende. Men när vi erbjöds ett bord för två uppe i bortre hörnet av uteplatsen, bad jag om något mindre instängt. Vi satt på ett bord med plats åt vänster och höger, men inte utan en tung suck från vad jag antar var en chef.

Maten var antingen inte alltför minnesvärd eller, som i fallet med den vita sparrisen med kräftor, mer en idé om en maträtt än en måltid. Det var 2 . 5 kräftor. Lammskaftet var en riktig överraskning, eftersom det var en anständig servering och riktigt läcker. 
När jag fick vänta på toaletten fick jag en stund att observera de täta sittplatserna och den upptagna servicepersonalen. Alla gjorde en poäng av att låta dig gå först och springa runt dig, men det är inte en plats för en trevlig middag.

En härlig njutning - prix fixe avsmakningsmeny innehöll fyra rätter (som ändras med årstiderna). Varje enskild rätt hade en unik kombination av smaker, oavsett om det var havsöring carpaccio (åtföljd av vermouth, stekt kapris och inlagda kumquats⁠) , vårlammet (med grön harissa, morel, salladsyoghurt, sparris och pistage) , eller olivolja kaka och citrus pavlova till dessert. Restaurangen är ett livligt utrymme, avskilt med öppna hyllenheter. En medlem i vår grupp var laktos - intolerant och restaurangen var mycket tillmötesgående, och påpekade vilka alternativ som skulle fungera bäst. Mycket vänlig servitör som förklarade varje maträtt i detalj. Det var ganska upptagen natten vi gick, så se till att reservera i förväg. En underbar upplevelse!

Vi hade en blandad upplevelse för första gången på en restaurang som beskrivs som en på en förhöjd nivå. 

Vi kom tidigt (ca 30 minuter eller så) och denna del var fantastisk. Vi eskorterades till uteplatsen för att vänta och erbjöd drycker. Servitören var fantastisk och visste vad man skulle rekommendera. Han var mycket hjälpsam. Efter det gick mycket ary. 

Jag hade valt din restaurang som min frus första Michelin-stjärniga restaurangupplevelse eftersom det var hennes 50-årsdag. En engångsföreteelse i livet. Jag såg fram emot att se henne över bordet njuta av denna upplevelse. 

Dock satt vi på en bar bredvid varandra och jag känner inte att vi hade en fantastisk upplevelse. Jag kunde inte se glädjen i att min fru fick prova maten på den här nivån. Mannen som satt bredvid min fru var också berusad och injicerade sig i vårt samtal och erfarenhet ofta. Så det var det. Han försökte också konsekvent få hennes uppmärksamhet genom att armbåge henne. 

Det hände inte bara, men en av bartendrarna i personalen var uppenbarligen full, drack från baren och tog shots av tequila. Jag tror att han skickades hem med tiden. Han hade nyligen rest till Hawaii och fortsatte sedan med att prata om att inte hamna i en pool som hade kissat i. Inte ett samtal som jag hade förväntat mig skulle ha hänt där fine dining är standard. 

Maten var riktigt god och det var bra att prova några unika rätter av högre kvalitet, men jag gillade inte att serveringspersonalen fick sträcka sig över oss för att byta ut våra tallrikar och bestick. Vi uppskattade kortet och extra dessert ljus. Ändå saknades vår erfarenhet totalt sett. Jag önskar att vi hade en bättre upplevelse på vår första Michelin stjärna restaurang. Jag förväntade mig bättre och en högre kvalitet matupplevelse på grund av betyget. 

Återigen maten var bra men erfarenheten, vilket är vad vi betalade för, saknades särskilt med tanke på den viktiga händelsen det var för. Jag hoppas att denna feedback hjälper dig att göra framtida förbättringar eftersom vi sannolikt inte kommer tillbaka.

gjorde en avsmakningsmeny för två. Som med de flesta människor vi kom eftersom vi hade ett speciellt tillfälle att fira och en michelin stjärna fine dining restaurat verkade vara platsen att göra det. Men riktigt besviken på maten. Oxtail på potatismos, förrätten med stekt krispig lök och en fissom jag skulle rekommendera det här stället, oavsett hur mycket jag ville gilla det. Min partner hade en något annorlunda uppsättning av objekt, men totalt sett - gick därifrån känsla som vi kunde göra detta på ganska mycket de flesta restauranger, utan bekymmer. Ganska standard rätter. Chokladdesserten var verkligen det enda som stod ut på menyn. När det gäller atmosfären är det mest en avslappnad plats. Bäst att undvika om du vill klä upp dig. Jag vet inte. Jag kan ge personalen ett pass, varken mycket vänlig eller välkomnande, och inte så polerad som man kan förvänta sig. Jag antar att det var ok överlag.

Smakerna och kombinationerna på säsongens meny är helt enastående. 
Inte på min var maten utmärkt men servicen och meny uppdelning/information var stor. 
Förslag och vin parningar var mycket klockren. 
Kommer definitivt tillbaka!

Måste säga att jag blev besviken. Tjänsten fortsatte att rusa oss - är du klar ännu, är du klar ännu - fyra av personalen frågade efter en kurs jag njöt av! 

När du spenderar så här mycket pengar förväntar du dig en långsam, omtänksam måltid. 

Maten var intressant - hade varit mycket bättre om jag hade fått äta den i min egen takt. Första rätten kom ut innan jag var klar med min cocktail och det goda brödet de serverade. 

Jag gillar att para ihop mina egna viner med måltider ibland. Jag beställde två glas vin, och hällen var så liten för $ 22 det var nästan ett skämt. Jag borde ha fått vinparings, men för 84 dollar för 3? 4 ? glasögon, det kunde ha varit ännu mindre. Anledningen till att jag inte gjorde parningarna är att jag ville ha ett helt glas vin för 22 dollar . Jag förstod inte. 

Till slut kändes det som om servitrisen var irriterad på mig. Men om två personer spenderar nästan 400 dollar, tycker jag att det är okej att ta två timmar att njuta av det. 

Tyvärr slutade det inte på det lycksaliga humör jag brukar få av att äta/dricka på ett kvalitetsställe. 

Kommer inte tillbaka.

Oöverträffad mat och service. 
Avsmakningsmenyn var innovativ, var och en med unika smaker och exceptionellt utförande. 
Vår server var fantastisk, guidar oss och svara på en hel del frågor. Han gav oss också bra vinrekommendationer. 
Han erbjöd även ett smakprov när vi inte kunde bestämma mellan två. 
Kan inte säga nog om upplevelsen här - det finns en anledning till att de har förtjänat en Michelinstjärna. 
Rekommendationerna inkluderar strippbiff och gurkspiraler. 
Efterrätterna var lika fantastiska och de hade med sig några mangokarameller som vi kom överens om att vi kunde ha ätit ett dussin!

Wow, bara wow. Tack till vår server, Michael, för att föreslå att vårt parti kunde smaka allt (! ) på små tallrikar menyn eftersom det finns fyra val per rätt, och så gjorde vi. Vilken njutning! Många smaker, smaker, kombinationer saker vi aldrig skulle skapa själva. Och vi satt utanför och kunde höra oss själva tala. (Vilket står i kontrast till föregående veckas middag på en mycket bullrig restaurang som vi aldrig kommer att återvända till om vi inte kan sitta utanför. ) . Rooster & Owl har haft öppet ett tag och förtjänar ett besök om man inte varit där på sistone.

Fantastiskt från början till slut! Bra service och perfekt utförd mat. Varje rätt var utsökt och alla 6 av oss njöt av måltiden oerhört. Speciella favoriter var öring, pasta, lamm och rödbetor.

Så jag slutade granska DC-restauranger eftersom de vi väljer är alla bra jag tar undantag för några få inklusive tupp och Uggla. Fantastiska såser med diskarna. Fantastiska vinkopplingar med markeringarna vi gjorde. Och mest av allt tjänsten var utmärkt.

Alla aspekter av Rooster & Owl är väl genomtänkta och roliga för restaurangen.

De fyra valen i de fyra olika kurserna gör det möjligt för två par att njuta av allt på menyn. Det fantastiska är hur bra var och en av de fyra valen går med varandra, vilket gör att matställe kan njuta av en annan typ av läckerhet med varje bett som går perfekt.

Det rimliga priset på upplevelsen gör upplevelsen tillgänglig för en större kundkrets och främjar miljön att detta aldrig kommer att bli en tuff atmosfär / vit trasa.

Personalen är varm och verkligen njuter av gästerna njuter av sin upplevelse. Vi var aldrig rusade och personalen uppskattar att ge diners den perfekta mängden utrymme.

En 20 år gammal restaurang utbrast, "det är som om vi äter på en sval plats i NY" - och erbjuder det ultimata matkomplimentet från en East Coaster.

Detta är lätt EN AV DE BÄSTA om inte de bästa platserna i DC och förhoppningsvis kommer att finnas i många år framöver.

Fantastisk måltid med föredömlig service! Tredje gången att besöka, och varje gång har visat sig vara speciell. Kreativitet och vård går eftertänksamt in i varje härlig, vacker maträtt. Smaker, texturer och ingredienser presenteras i så underbara och oväntade kombinationer under varje kurs. Efterrätter ger en fest för både ögonen och paletten, vilket ger en otrolig finish till en fantastisk måltid. Vi kommer tillbaka!

Vi hade en utmärkt middag på Rooster & Owl. Tjänsten var enastående, maten underbar och delstorlekarna var perfekt. Vi har verkligen haft vår måltid!
