Hotel is clean. Acoustics are not great--I can hear entire conversations through the common wall in my room. Breakfast is mediocre, at least it is included with room. The internet is spotty, slow and often disconnects. The TV is not on cable, you have to scan through channel by channel, unable to na vigate from the guide/list. I would probably not book here again.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. It was clean and well spaced out. The beds were comfortable and the shower was clean. I like that they had a bathtub, because I was able to give my daughter a bath, which is so much easier than a shower. They had coffee with powdered creamer. It was decent. The TV had multiple channels. The Merriam visitors center is right across the street and they had a little display across the street with a beautiful fountain and short walking path. The person at the front desk was very nice and I didn't even mind that breakfast was late because he profusely apologized. Breakfast in the morning was free and full. It wasn't just continental, but had eggs, bacon and everything else. Location was good as well. It was a little outside of the city, but honestly, I preferred that. Overall, I was pleased with my stay here and recommend it if you are taking a visit.

Car broke down and they found a room for us for 3 days while car was being fixed. It's a very nice hotel the room was fabulous plus located across from laundry room which was great as we had to wash clothes 3 times as we didn't expect to be away from home that long. The housekeeper was so friendly and nice. Asking us if there was anything else we needed. Everyone was so nice from front desk to people that served breakfast. Food was amazing. Fruit scrambled eggs sausage biscuits gravy Cereal rolls bread jam coffee milk and different juices. You had your pick. In all amazing experience during a bad situation with car.

I stayed here right before the holidays geared up. As soon as I came in the front door I smelled cleaners, pleasant smell. I stayed in a King Sized Bed Accessible room, but I didn't really consider it a handicap room. Yes, the bathroom did have a few handrails, but the shower was a good sized step up. Plus right in front of the tub a puddle of liquid was lurking there? Not sure exactly what the liquid consisted of? Just used a towel to put down and wipe up. I did try the hot tub out, which was excellent. It was just the right temperature and had great compression. Just wish the timer was longer! I wanted to use the computer out in the business center that evening because I had some things that needed to be printed off. I went to use it and it's password protected. The gentleman at the front desk told me the code, but it didn't work. He came over to log in, but couldn't figure the password out. He did call someone else and tried again, but still didn't work. So he said someone would be around in the morning to help me, but mornings are always busy! The breakfast was okay. Everything was up to temperature- hot/cold items. The breakfast staff member was friendly as well. Giving it 3 stars because of the problems. Overall a decent place with a great location to the highway. Just to warn you, construction is going on around the area.

I stayed at the Hotel Lotus hotel in Merriam, Kansas for 3 nights during a recent stay in October 2022. When I saw the listing on hotels.com, thought "Lotus" meant the car not the flower. Lol With that said, I booked booked this property due to its price and location to friends who lived in Overland Park and in Shawnee. The price wasn't bad at all, at around $100/night. I learned that this place was a former Drury Inn hotel and was rebranded as the Hotel Lotus in recent years. I somehow managed to use majority of the amenities this time around, including the indoor pool during my downtime. Pretty wild. Upon arrival, the hotel looked promising with the breakfast area doubled as the lobby area. The check in process was fast and friendly, with my room key being handed to me within a few minutes of checking in. While this hotel isn't extravagant by any means, it was priced right, comfortable, and safe for me. I must say that it was the right fit for me to hang out here at the Hotel Lotus during my time here in Kansas City. Even the room was comforting and inviting too. I managed to get a room with a king sized bed and everything worked in the room during my stay. It felt like being in a private dorm in some ways but fully furnished. The room was clean and immaculate. Didn't need room service during my stay. The overall experience here at the Hotel Lotus - Merriam KS was nice, decent, and comfortable. The room itself was good and felt homely for the time I was there. The bed itself was comfortable and got in my required number of hours needed for a best day ever in the metro. Truth be told that I spent a good amount of time in the room or at the hotel during the daylight because I was simply on vacay and was lazy. It was nice, to be honest, to be lazy. The breakfast Buffett was completely complimentary and featured a hot entrees, usually assorted meats usually sausage and or bacon. Eggs are a favorite, sometimes in omelette form or mass scrambled with or without cheese. And of course, assorted pastries and or biscuits for the carbs. They also had cereal for those who wanted that. My personal favorite was the orange juice machine. During the experience here, I went to town with the orange juice machine and had maybe 10 cups of orange juice while watching the news each morning I was there. I normally don't buy it at home so having it on vacay was a personal joy. While using the pool, it was nice and got the pool to myself for an hour. It helps that it was on a work day too. The Hotel Lotus is located at 9009 Shawnee Mission Parkway in the Merriam district of Overland Park, KS. Like many hoteliers in the industry, they accept major credit cards. Not sure if they accept cash, but I'm sure that the house till housekeeping staff accepts cash tips for their services. They do not have an airport shuttle, since they're too far from the KCI airport. As far as parking goes, The airport has plenty of parking, generous for everyone who stays here overnight or multiple days and is free or included with your room. Best bet is to get a rental car, arrive and depart with an Uber or Lyft. For myself, I usually combination of friends and Uber. If you are a father of the Kansas City public transportation system, best bet is to consult the Kansas City transportation and see where you can go and I will see you will take to get here to the hotel, and wherever you need to go there after. So, if you are traveling through or vacationing in Kansas City, consider coming and staying here to the Hotel Lotus. It's definitely a centralized location for anyone and everyone who is looking for that perfect hotel room stay. There is centralized room, Wi-Fi, which is nice. There's no real air-conditioning system here, but I'm sure you can do it, right? It was good, and the checkout process was fast and friendly, too. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the breakfast buffet, ambiance, room comfort, and the friendly service. We honestly were not expecting much from this hotel since the price was on the lower side, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our stay here. They have comfortable beds and the rooms look newly renovated. Free breakfast in the morning was decent with good strong coffee. Nice pool! The only thing I didn't like was the bathroom was very small and cramped. Also the wifi was very slow and pretty much just didn't work. Other then that, a decent hotel for the price. Family friendly too!

I was not expecting much upon arriving and boy was I right. The parking lot was mostly empty, barely any car. When I got to the room, the space was very small and there was also bed bugs to be find!! This place is terrible, please save yourself some money and never stay here!!

Boy, do some things change. My original review, below, described a clean, friendly, efficient and relatively inexpensive hotel. All of that has changed for the worse, so much so that I can no longer stand by my original review. Since opening, this hotel has gone downhill in every way. I've watched the decline over several visits. Even the breakfast has gotten worse. My last visit (and it will indeed be my last visit) was marked by a room so filthy it was unbelievable. The staff's inability to deal with the problem was almost legendary. I cannot recommend this hotel any longer.
