While this is not where I will be having my wedding, I cannot say enough great things about the Arts and Taylor Hess. Taylor did an amazing job laying out what the day could look like and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. She is an amazing resource and I have no doubt that she would make anyone's dream wedding. Everyone was so willing to make accommodations if we needed them. The food selections available here are top notch and hard to compete with. This place is perfect for small-medium weddings.

I've been on the fence about writing this review as I see the owner/manager replies to bad reviews and I truly don't want to engage him, but want others to know the poor experience we had to help others. As was the case with countless others, I had a November 2020 wedding scheduled that was impacted by the pandemic lockdown. That's not anyone's fault. However. The client service from the manager/owner John is abhorrent. (The event coordinators are kind and very responsive.) We'd made deposits, and were scheduled to make another -- literally, I had optimistically send out save the dates -- but the city still had restrictions on how many people could gather in the space. My contract was for 130 people. When I reached out to Arts Ballroom to discuss the way forward, thinking that they MUST have some kind of action plan about how they were going to move forward with existing contracts and triage, there was nothing. No plan. No mitigation strategy. No flexibility to bump the date. Just an expectation of payment for my contracted amount. We asked to move the date to 2021. John told us no, because our Nov. 2020 date would be considered lost revenue because it's a date he could've sold to someone else. This was illogical -- if the city wouldn't let us gather in 2020, he wouldn't have been able to sell the date to ANYONE. That was the whole point -- we were trying to get ahead of what was very obviously inevitable: we weren't going to be able to host anything in 2020, and rather than proceed as planned -- spending all kinds of money on vendors and invitations, only for Arts Ballroom to call us THIRTY DAYS BEFORE to reschedule (yes, they were only alerting to reschedule 30 days out) we wanted to be proactive and get ahead of it. For those keeping score at home: you send wedding invitations 6 to 8 weeks out. Make it make sense. We even offered extra money to move the date for for peace of mind -- our primary concern was exposure to people who were at risk -- no dice. No dice and no action plan. But he did ask us if we wanted to just buy a new 2021 date! Ha. He then cockily talked through *his* obligations to the bank which -- I'm sorry, but I'm a paying customer. His business dealings are not my business--apply for small business pandemic support or something. His responsibility is to his customers, but I guess not. It's also telling that his business had no cash reserves so he had to hold folks' feet to the fire this way. Needless to say, we canceled and lost a significant deposit. In hindsight, it was a small price to pay to not have to work with his clueless arrogance. (He was very confident, despite saying he didn't watch the news, that the pandemic would clear up by our date.) I was walking a dog with a friend this weekend, and happened in front of the venue where I saw someone casually smoking crack on the corner across the street. I chuckled and took it as a sign.

The Arts Ballroom deserves more than five starts. My daughter's wedding was there this past weekend. From the moment they toured the venue with Taylor and all the correspondence I had with Taylor she didn't miss a detail. Taylor exceeded all our expectations. The venue is truly beautiful and the food is exceptional. Mike our Maître D was so attentive to every detail of the night and always made sure there was nothing needed. The cocktail hour was amazing with all the food and décor. We had guests coming up to us to say they have never been to such a beautiful wedding reception and how delicious all the food was. The entire staff during the entire evening was absolutely the best not missing a detail. I even had John one of the owners present and he couldn't of been more gracious and attentive. The Venetian hour was above and beyond what I could have imagined. If you want to have an amazing reception and delicious food than The Arts Ballroom is the one, I highly recommend The Arts Ballroom.

My daughter had her wedding reception at the Arts Ballroom on September 20th and I cant say enough good things about this venue. Kaleigh was a delight to work with. When we walked into the ballroom it took our breath away. The room looked brand new! The food was unbelievable. Everything was delicious. My entree arrived at my table piping hot which is unusual for a wedding reception. One of the nicest features about this place was everything was included. No extra fee for wedding cake (Classic cakes- best in philly) or slicing it.

This hidden ballroom is a gem of a spot for a special event. What's funny is its amongst an apartment condo that even residents didn't realize had a ballroom. Right next to the doubletree and sandwiched between some of the hippest bars and other things, this spot has everything going for it. A great event staff that ensured everything was going great and one that was incredibly accommodating to everyone. Attended a beautiful wedding here and for those that want the ballroom Cinderella staircase this is the spot.

Had the unfortunate displeasure of having my senior formal here. Not only was there barely any food even though it was promised, the food didnt accommodate any dietary restrictions. The security was nonexistent outside which resulted in myself, my date, my friend, and her date being harrassed and followed by strangers outside. Inside the venue there were only seats in the 21+ area and of course in that area there was no music. The one good thing I will say about the venue was the staff. Although the segregation between the bar and dance floor completely killed the mood, the people working the event were incredibly helpful, attentive, and nice. They tried their best and it was the only redeeming quality of the night.

Manager is super unfriendly, unknowledgeable about sound equipment, and unprofessional. Venue was booked for a formal, but he made the DJ turn the music so low that nobody could hear, claiming "this is a formal place, not a club." Later, the manager forced the DJ to sign a contract saying if the speakers broke, the DJ would be responsible to pay for it. Horrible people skills, pick a different venue with friendlier management that doesn't create new contracts on the spot and ruin people's nights by being overly cautious for no reason.

We are one week out of wedding and still in awe about our wedding event. We fell in love with the venue on first look as it was elegant and old world. With our flowers and guests and music and of course bride and groom the evening was beyond anything we expected. Everyone could not be more In Awe of the venue on arrival. Elena our party coordinator was super professional. Attended to every detail and request. Never stressed and had patience. John the owner was accommodating and there to please us. All of the staff day of event were exceptionally nice to us and all our guests. The food was plentiful and delicious. Cocktail hour had all requests met and was beautifully displayed and delicious. Dinner was lovely a fish and short ribs with nice vegetables. Dessert was amazing and very elaborate and delicious. We are very grateful that our special day for our daughter and husband was so perfect and all we dreamed of as parents.

My nonprofit hosted our annual fundraiser with the Arts Ballroom this year. We're a small organization, and this was a big step for us to host something downtown--and I'm so glad we took that step! Our guests were blown out of the water by how beautiful the Arts Ballroom is, and it was the perfect setting to help take our fundraiser to the next level. The staff, especially Alaina, were absolutely wonderful. She even helped us unload all of our boxes and auction items (she was a trooper, considering we had a van AND UHaul worth of stuff). She was a great coordinator, working with me to create the perfect layout (several times over as we kept adding auction items), color scheme, and more. The event was a success, and people are still calling me to tell me how great it was. For anyone venue searching, I'd definitely recommend the Arts Ballroom for 250 guests or less (any more than that would be too tight, unless you're not doing a sitdown dinner). The only real drawback we experienced, which isn't the fault of the Ballroom, is parking; we all know Center City is difficult, at best. The garage across from the Ballroom offers a prepaid discount for vouchers, which is great, but you have to have the number of vouchers you need a month beforehand; anyone who plans events knows that's a little difficult, as you have additions and changes to your guest list almost until the actual event. 5 stars for the beauty of the venue, ease of planning with their staff, and overall execution of events.

I have booked numerous parties with the Arts Ballroom over the last three years. Absolutely beautiful event space, great staff and service. I would highly recommend the Arts Ballroom to anyone. Very professional. The prior comment stating that they throw people out has to be inaccurate. When you own a Ballroom and serve alcohol, you need to keep the guests in check and make sure that no issues arise. I'm sure there was an issue for him being asked to leave. My guests were all raving about this place. The owner even showed up and wished us a nice time. Bonus!
