I was recommended this restaurant by a local colleague, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip to Amsterdam!

Gertrude near the canal and conveniently close to a metro station, the location is perfect for a relaxed evening out.

The restaurant has a charming Parisian vibe with its intimate and thoughtfully curated menu. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors – everything exceeded my expectations.

The oysters were fresh and delicious, and the fish cake had a nostalgic flavor that reminded me of some Asian dishes, adding a unique twist. Having my last dinner in Amsterdam here made it a truly memorable experience, and it’s a place I’ll always remember fondly.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Gertrude ! The atmosphere is charming and intimate. Every dish was beautifully presented and with a lot of different flavors.

We did end up ordering multiple dishes as the portions are on the smaller side, but this gave us the chance to sample a variety of the menu’s offerings.

Had dinner here for 2 consecutive nights, day 1 alone and 2nd day with family. Tried Chef’s selection and on menu dishes. Every course is so nicely cooked and presented. Service was excellent and staff are energetic and friendly. Pricing is also very reasonable with good selection of good but not so expensive wines. Highly recommended

First meal in Amsterdam and this didn’t disappoint. We had opted for a table on the terrance and despite the rain and poor weather, we still had an enjoyable time.

Portions are small sharing plates and made it ideal for us to try several dishes. Highlights were the beetroot in buttermilk and small prawns, fishcakes in savoury caramel sauce and pan seared / roasted chicken thighs. To be honest we enjoyed everything and the service was excellent and prompt. The tables outside are small and we did not have any issues with pacing or spacing 😆

If there was anything to critique on it would be the oyster mushrooms in yoghurt and walnuts. Perhaps the flavours weren’t to our liking and this to us was the weakest dish.

By far one of the best meals I’ve had in Amsterdam. Portions were perfect for one or to share. Would recommend making a reservation even for one if you want outdoor seating.
