This place is beautiful, yet eerie at the same time.
A quiet little place tucked away by Billy Bishop Airport.
I stayed here a bit reflecting on my Irish past and how my ancestors immigrated to Canada from Ireland.

Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, Ireland Park on Eireann Quay…this park commemorates the tens of thousands who fled Ireland during the Great Famine..In 1847 over 38,000 Irish landed at Rees Wharf….Jonathan Kearns designed the park which in a major way features 5 bronze statues created by Rowan Gillespie and depicting the tragedy that happened during the famine..there is also an immense wall made from limestone imported from Kilkenny..in 2009 there was a film produced “Death Or Canada” demonstrating the dark story of 1847..

A small parket at the lakeshore close to the Billy Bishop airport. Although this is a very interesting aspect of Toronto's history the park is in disrepair.  Maybe moving to a more prominent location would be better suited for this instillation.  This is worth seeing if you have seen the statues by the same artist in Dublin, Ireland.

a great initiative to commemorate Irish immigrants who arrived in Toronto during the Potato Famine (and especially those who perished shortly after arriving). Sadly now (Winter 2022/23) is not the best time to visit the park, as it is surrounded by construction sites - there is some renovation happening at the Canada Malting Co. and some developments by the Billy Bishop drop off/parking area. it is somehow easy to miss, as off the "beaten road" of Martin Goodman trail, and hidden behind other buildings.
