Ottoman Taverna in DC is a fantastic spot for Turkish cuisine. The food is authentic and delicious, with rich flavors and a great variety of dishes. The service is top-notch, and Ali, our waiter, made both of our dinners unforgettable with his friendly and attentive service. His recommendations were spot on, and he went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. If you’re looking for amazing Turkish food and outstanding service, Ottoman Taverna is the place to go!

The interior was nice, we got the chef mix grill that feed 2, but it did well with feeding 4 adults and a child after 2 appetizers (hummus (must try, fresh and smooth) and the hot meze platter (okay when indecisive)).  Tiramisu is light and isn’t too sweet which we loved and the Kunefe (I would skip this one). 4 drinks. Overall $204 with 20% automatic gratuity.

Without a doubt food was good. But noticed some issues during the entire time. The bus boy, and waiter who refills water didn’t care , etiquette- spilled water and didn’t apologize, We wiped it, didnt mind at first it was very busy time, but happened again. So I understand the why Michelin star 2023 and 2024 was missing.

While in town for a conference came here for a departmental dinner. Have to say that the staff was very friendly and accommodating despite us being a large group. The food itself was fantastic and the meze were all phenomenal. This was a hit with everyone present at the table! Would recommend this restaurant for any celebratory or group dinners.

I had a terrible experience at Ottoman Taverna. They completely disregard food allergies. I specifically ordered the Ottoman Rice, which was marked as gluten-free on their menu, only to discover that it contained orzo—a type of pasta made entirely from wheat and loaded with gluten. When I raised this issue, the server even showed me the packaging of the orzo, which was of poor quality and blatantly contained gluten. This is not only misleading but also highly dangerous for individuals with dietary restrictions.

This blatant misinformation on their menu is unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of hygiene and care. I will never return to this restaurant and do not recommend it to anyone. Photos of the issue are attached, and I will be filing a formal complaint with the health authorities using this evidence.

Avoid this place at all costs.
