I am happy a friend halfway across Europe, whose father hails from this little village, mentioned Il Cedro to us, and I tried to visit at our first opportunity.
We booked a table by phone although, since we had lunch on a weekday, that was not strictly necessary.
Mariangela, who oversees the dining room, made us feel very welcome and is a delight to have a chat with.
We came especially to taste their wild game dishes, so we each had pappardelle with hare meat ragout, and then we shared a dish of deer meat stewed in Chianti wine. I had not tasted such flavours for quite some time. By the time we got to the raspberry pie, we were already in heaven.
The prices are very decent, and the view from the balcony outside is refreshing (not least for the spirit), even on the baking-hot kind of days we had when we arrived in Italy this year.

Il prezzo è assolutamente consono alle pietanze servite. Cucina tipica del posto, semplice e saporita in quantità giusta per gustare diversi piatti e varietà. Il Cervo è assolutamente da provare i fughi fritti strepitosi

Siamo stati in questo piccolo ristorante a gestione familiare e ne siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti. Era tutto molto buono, decisamente una cucina casalinga di montagna. Abbiamo mangiato dell'ottima cacciagione sia con la pasta fatta in casa che come secondi (brasati ottimi).. a mio avviso sarebbe tutto più buono se solo i piatti fossero un po' mento unti... Tanto olio nel piatto. Comunque tutto buono e ottima la selezione di amari e digestivi prodotti dai monaci camaldolesi. Prezzi onesti ! Signora Mariangela: una forza della natura!

We went to this small family-run restaurant and were very satisfied. It was all very good, definitely mountain home cooking. We ate excellent game both with homemade pasta and as second courses (excellent braised meats)... in my opinion everything would be better if only the dishes were a little greasy... Lots of oil on the plate. However, everything was good and the selection of bitters and digestives produced by the Camaldolese monks was excellent. Honest prices! Mrs. Mariangela: a force of nature!
