Stunning winery - top quality wines and service to match! Beautiful interior and the shop with wine and high quality crafts and goodies - bank account took a hit! The vin de Constance came home with us.  My favourite place in Constantia - we didn’t eat however the outdoor dining terrace looked gorgeous - we will def return and highly recommend.

Lovely wine tasting experience with a beautiful terraced veranda to eat onsite.
Service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious.
Highly recommend in particular for those that are fans of pudding (dessert) wine that the vineyard is well known for.

Klein Constantia Restaurant offers a wonderful dining experience. The food is some of the best in the area—full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff are friendly and professional. The peaceful and scenic setting adds to the charm, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal. Highly recommended for a memorable culinary experience!

Amazing afternoon wine tasting. Such a beautiful vineyard with such amazing history. The tasting room was stunning with heaters and blankets for those who need it during winter time, as the building can be quite cold. Exquisite wines with such variety in flavor.

Nestled at the end of Klein Constantia Road in the picturesque suburb of Constantia, Cape Town, Klein Constantia Estate stands as a beacon of South African wine heritage. Established in 1685 by Simon van der Stel, this historic estate spans an impressive 146 hectares and is celebrated for its world-renowned sweet wine, Vin de Constance. This exquisite wine has graced the tables of influential figures throughout history, including none other than Napoleon Bonaparte.

The story of Klein Constantia begins in 1685 when Simon van der Stel, a pioneering figure in South African viticulture, laid the foundation for the estate. Just over three decades later, in 1718, Johannes Colijn revitalized winemaking at the estate and propelled its wines onto the global stage by shipping them worldwide. This early international exposure set Klein Constantia apart as a producer of quality wines destined for discerning palates.

In 1778, the estate passed into the hands of the Cloete family, who enhanced both the vineyards and the iconic mansion. Forty years later, in 1818, estate ownership was divided, and Johan Gerhard Cloete bestowed the name Klein Constantia on the property. Under the Cloete family’s stewardship, the estate flourished, securing its reputation as a premier wine destination in the Cape.

After a period of decline, the estate experienced a renaissance in 1980 thanks to the visionary efforts of Duggie Jooste. His revitalization efforts restored Klein Constantia’s vineyards and reputation, culminating in the production of wines that have garnered international acclaim. This resurgence was further cemented when the estate was acquired in 2011 by Zdeněk Bakala and Charles D. Harman, ensuring continued investment and growth.

Today, Klein Constantia offers visitors a unique blend of history, scenic views, and exceptional wines. Its tasting room is open year-round, inviting guests to sample a diverse range of vintages, including the famous Vin de Constance.
