The White Fortress is part of the old remains of the defences of Vratnik, which used to be an important area of Sarajevo.

A basic shell now remains, but the entrance fee is minimal and the views are awesome, it's a short walk (25 / 35 mins) from the old town (Baščaršija is Sarajevo's old bazaar)

You can walk to the Yellow Fortress 💛 first then onto the White Fortress 🤍 for a mini hike.

For the fit or adventurous you can then continue up to the Visěgradska gate the up a steep climb to ‎Tabija Zmajevac, then finally loop down back to the Old Town, stop for a tea with Hassain at Dzirlo tea house.

The ruins don't offer too much to explore, and there is no kind of information for tourists about the castle's history. The best is the view, but there are other points nerby where you can have this view for free.

Not much deal but it is ok, the view is beautiful over the Sarajevo. It is more like a fort. The tax is not much, but I don’t think it deserves one.

Amazing view of Sarajevo, the fortress was closed when we visited , which was beginning of April, but plenty of routes around, so we could experience the atmosphere and see the view of Sarajevo from above
