We recently dined at Restaurant Noel in Zagreb and had a very enjoyable experience. The restaurant’s Michelin star is really well deserved! l

The setting is modern yet comfortable, with wooden tables, comfortable chairs, and an open kitchen pass that adds a touch of interaction to the atmosphere. The decor features works by local artists, which gives the space a distinct character.

We started with cocktails at the bar, which were well-crafted and a nice introduction to the evening. The set menu consisted of around 10 courses, and instead of opting for wine pairing, we tried the tea pairing. Each course was matched with a cold-brew tea, an interesting and innovative choice that complemented the dishes very well.

The food focused on local and seasonal ingredients, including truffles, seafood, mushrooms, and pumpkin. The dishes were packed with bold flavors and ,a well-balanced interplay of sweetness, acidity, and savory notes.

Service was attentive and friendly, making us feel comfortable throughout the evening. The overall atmosphere was casual but polished.

Restaurant Noel offers a thoughtful and well-executed fine dining experience with a focus on Croatian ingredients. It’s a good choice for those looking for a refined meal in Zagreb.

The brightest star on Zagreb's Michelin sky!

Our highlights include the:

Would give more stars if I could. Amazing people working there. Perfect dining experience. By far the best meal I had in my life and can easily recommend it to anyone. If you love yourself you should experience this  at least one in a lifetime.

Went for cocktail experience night. We weren't impressed at all. We didn't think food was worth michelin star. Out of 5 courses only one was really good (one with the shrimp) while tomato and strawberry and desert were extremely disappointing. We expected more from cocktails as well.

Some of the best new food in Zagreb with very inspired preparations and design. The restaurant also functions as a mini -museum with occasional visits from artists, and new art showcased on the walls and bar area. The welcome drink and amuse-bouches were a nice touch. Best dish I had on their spring menu was probably the green and white asparagus with hazelnut sauce, tons of umami. One fun dish you created with paint made from vegetable puree. A really noteworthy experience and worth it to return to try different seasonal menus. It is, however, quite expensive for Zagreb (tasting menu was around 130 euros the day I went), and likely best saved for a special occassion.
