Visiting San Sebastián for only 2 days and I went there twice - the best ever oyster! The sauce defo makes it ultra fresh.
Also very kind and helpful staff, love the wines they recommended - txakoli and guimaro.
Last but not least - the place is spacious and modern, plus some outdoor seats. Right next to STM (acc they are within the same building. 😄

Got a rezy 2 days in advance, very good meal. Ordered a la carte and received an amuse bouche. The pigeon and mushroom risotto were standouts. Each plate came on a nice dish, service was friendly. Acoustics could use some tuning. Would recommend.

Her knowledge of the menu and wine list enhanced our experience, guiding us to select wines that perfectly complemented each dish.

We began our meal with the ravioli de txangurro, which featured a local spider crab delicately encased in ravioli and served with a shrimp, all in a sauce that was both rich and intensely flavored with the essence of the sea. This dish set a high standard for the rest of the evening, balancing the natural sweetness of the seafood with the savory depth of the sauce.

For the main course, we opted for the solomillo, a prime cut of steak. This dish was impeccably prepared, with the meat cooked to the perfect level of tenderness and seasoned just right to highlight its natural flavors. The generosity of the restaurant was evident when I was undecided between the pigeon and the suckling pig. Without hesitation, they offered me half portions of both at no additional charge, showcasing their commitment to customer satisfaction.

The cochinillo, or suckling pig, was outstanding, featuring juicy meat with a crisp, golden skin, served atop a subtle sauce and accompanied by velvety pureed potatoes. However, the true star of the evening was the pichón (pigeon). The breast meat was expertly grilled, achieving a perfect balance of tenderness and flavor. The dish's complexity was further enhanced by the use of the pigeon’s organs in a light and airy mousse, while the legs were braised in a richly flavored sauce. It came with a little bit of a tomato/apple compote which just had an excellent balance of sweet and acidity. This dish alone is reason enough to return to Zazpi.

To conclude this memorable meal, we indulged in the Luna de Chocolates, a dessert that was both innovative and indulgent. The white chocolate egg, filled with a luscious custard and molten chocolate, was complemented by a dusting of lemon-infused powdered sugar, adding a bright contrast to the rich chocolate. This dessert was a fitting end to what was, undoubtedly, the best meal we enjoyed in San Sebastián.

Zazpi Gastobar not only delivered on all fronts but exceeded expectations. The level of culinary artistry and service makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience.
