We were looking for an early morning breakfast for our second day in Edinburgh and came across the Edinburgh Larder. I’d read reviews where someone had said that by 8:20am the place was packed so we made our way and arrived a couple of minutes before 8:00am and there were already 6 people before us.

Such a good sign!

We were seated really promptly and our orders were taken within minutes.

The food came out quickly but not too quickly for you to question the freshness.

I ordered the Hash with bacon and my fiancé ordered the Traditional Scottish.

He said his breakfast was absolutely amazing and it was the first time he has enjoyed black pudding. The haggis was great and everything was cooked perfectly.

My breakfast was phenomenal. The potatoes with the dill cream sauce was out of this world and just everything was a great experience. The coffee was wonderful too.

The service was also delightful, attentive but not in your face and just a super chill, comfy vibe.

We’re on our way back this morning for our final breakfast before we go but making sure we’re 10 minutes early to guarantee a seat!

This was the first place my wife and I went after getting off our arrival flight into Edinburgh. There was a short wait but totally worth it.
The food was incredibly fresh, customer service was quality, and the presentation (and taste) of their food was a perfect way to start our time in Scotland.
We will be back!

I had an amazing experience at this breakfast spot! The food was absolutely delicious, and every bite was a treat. The staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and kind—truly attentive with a lot of patience. It’s clear they care about providing a great experience. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a fantastic breakfast. Will definitely be back!

The waffles were excellent. The last time I came, they were served with bacon, cream, and berries. But this time, since it’s Christmas, they had a festive twist with apples. The cream was spiced with Christmas flavours, and there was a crumble on top with butter infused with Christmas spices. It was fantastic, super good!

Not bad, but a bit sweaty and cramped. The food was good overall. Minor complaints about the bacon (my husband suspected it had been sat under a heat lamp for a while) and could have done with one more egg rather than two slices of overly buttery toast on the veggie breakfast. All that said, it's clear why it's popular and you will have a good, filing breakfast, with decent service. (Do book ahead - walk ins were being turned away and the place was packed)
