I travel a lot for work, especially LA. I am a devoted Marriott convoy gal.  This hotel rocks. It started with a lovely valet who continued to remember my name. I tried to check in super early and my room wasn’t available which is fine, they took my bags and placed them in my room when it was ready. The decor is gorgeous, and not like hotel trying to be cool, but actually cool.  Bed super comfy, all the light in the room are on a dimmer which is nice. I just loved and it and will be back.

We wanted to stay a few nights between Palm Springs and getting on the Amtrak Starlight going north. So happy we chose Hotel Proper. The hotel rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable. Room service is excellent. The lobby has a cool vibe and the restaurants are beautifully designed. Can't wait to try the bar on the top floor on Saturday night. The view at sunset must be amazing. If you are interested in visiting the Grand Central Market and/or The Last Book Store, they are a 15 minute walk,

Very friendly staff. The concierge went as far as to get me the paint color of our room which was very kind - it’s a beautiful salmon color that I’ve been looking for. Great restaurant and food (no TV at the bar). Beautifully designed hotel (more European than American). Comfortable beds.  If I have to stay in DTLA again, I would stay here.

Going to the location it’s Downtown LAX so the expectations are low. But this is top 2 best hotel stays I’ve had in the US (I travel a lot). Their customer service is A1. The property is treated like a 5 star property. They do not skim on customer service. Treat you like an individual and not another customer. They will go above and beyond. That’s before you get into the restaurant/bar upstairs. Beautiful scene overlooking LA. Property is well worth the price and more. Rooms are pretty rustic in a 80s la style but definitely one of the best stays I’ve had. Number 1 property in LA. Worth every dollar spent

Extremely disappointing stay.

Properly small queen room, poorly furnished, terrible views and mediocre service. The valet and check in took a long time. We were here during the LA bush fire and we understand there might be an impact on business operations but it’s ridiculous when your reception area is overflowing at 10pm and there was barely any standing room. Next to it, you have an empty bar that you could have offered waiting customers a break from the line.

Amenities are nothing to rave about. The room is so small, there’s barely any space to walk if you have 2 suitcases. So much was lacking in the room - no kettle for hot water or mugs for tea. We paid for a view and we are overlooking deserted carparks. The big appeal to this hotel is the rooftop bar - it was understandably closed for our stay (due to the fire) but the hotel did nothing to make up for the fact that there was no alternative amenities.

For a 5 star hotel, it’s been a very disappointing stay. Very sure you get better value elsewhere
